I also need to know this - for a mate.
Maybe change the text to normal size and not bold, just to slightly reduce the flame-age thast about to ensue.
Otherwise good question, theres a guy with a 4ag motor in his, I think on here..

If you look around you can find twin carbs for these things. The effort and cost of finding and tuning them will be painful and hardly worth the results.
I'd fit an SC12 supercharger. A blowthrough setup would need bit of custom piping and will provide a bit of spice.
Nitrous could be another option but with the 3 bolt mains, I suspect you'd be picking the crank off the road the first time you got on the button.
If you are prepared to go the engine conversion route, I'd fit a 1NZFE from a Yaris. They look like a good thing. Plenty of them about with 4AGEs - would be a more travelled and simpler option.
i just really wanna kepp the 2r block and put different internals in. just need an answer to what?
OK. Not going to happen. These things are low revving nuggets. They go forever but they're pretty shitful. Even the twin cam variants were gay in the ass.Originally Posted by dandaman2007
So you going to rebuild this 2R?
Might be worth checking if a 3 mains 5R crank fits. Check bore diameters - maybe see if 2R is vaguely close to 3R or 5R.
I have the details at my folks home but hard to get to ATM. Check www.acl.com.au , download their piston catalogue and you compare things like bore, stroke, piston height.
EDIT:::Quick and dirty search (bore x stroke in mm):
- 2R 78 x 78
- 12R 80.5 x 78
- 5R 88 x 82
- 3R 87.8 x 78
Best combo would be 12R pistons with 5R crank and rods to give a capacity of 1670 cc. Might need to get the block sonic tested to make sure there is enough meat there to bore it out nearly 3mm. You'll need to check piston height and deck height to make sure it all fits. After that, you'll need to do the usual crap of fitting a bigger cam, headwork, intake and exhaust to make it go a bit better. To quote you again, for all this effort, it just isn't going to go "a shitload better", hence the supercharger suggestion or replace with better motor option. Supercharger will cost heaps less and provide a much better result.
Try www.toyotacorona.com forums and see what the lads there have done.

thanks heaps man for your time. helps me out heaps.

Ok had more of a look - seems like 5R crank has larger mains journals than 2R. They are also a little wider.....won't fit without quite a bit of work so not very helpful at all!![]()
