    Default 7m-ge + T

has anyone had any good outcomes with turboing a N/A 7m... if it was to have block and head decked and thick metal headgasket then a mild boost single turbo setup on it wat does anyone have any thoughts on the outcome... would it be worth it or would swapping a 7mgte be easier and more effective??? its just as a means to get by till a 1j conversion...

Just put up with the engine and wait for the JZ conversion.
90% of what you do for the na-t will have to be redone, so its money wasted.

I/C piping is no concern cause i do that myself... and would run a pump(maybe surge setup) big enough to run a decent 1j... besides that would there be any redoing dramas???

    Toyota Maths 101:

    7M-GE + T = BHG

I've been down the road of "What conversion should I do? and What can I do in the mean time to get by?" and I was ever so close to turboing my old 5ME and had all the parts but decided not to go through with it and just save my money and bought an MA61 with a 7MGTE. I put people like Cruzida through hell and back because I was changing my mind ever hour ever day

I'd save your cash and put it towards the 1J unless you have everything lying around for free waiting to go on, in which case go for it

Exhaust will be completely different from turbo to cat.
    Wiring will be completely different.
IC piping will be completely different.
You will be wasting money on doing the MHG and headwork.
Gearbox strength may be an issue (not sure if you have auto or man now)
If its manual you'll probably need to upgrade clutch, which may provide useless behind a 1JZ.

If you are having a block decked you need to remove the engine, completely strip it, and send it off to get decked. Once you've done that you may as well replace the rings and bearings.
By the time you do all this you could have bought a 1JZ and from then on all the costs will be near identical.
