Check the connector on the cam angle sensor. The wires come loose and the ECU gets no signal for firing. Also the ignitor can develop a bad earth.. so check that and/or run another earth to it. It's a pretty common prob i've found.
Hey guys...got a problem with my gfs MA70 GT limited auto 7mgte supra.
She was coming over to my place on friday night, about a 45min drive and her car wouldn't start. It turns over and everything but no bang bang.
She gets a ride to my place with a friend on saturday morning and not long after gets a call from her mum saying that her car started easily.
I put it down to just being an arsehole car as usual.
She drives it to work this morning and i just got a phone call saying that it wont start again for her to get home.
Her tow truck driver friend is either towing it to a mechanics (noone in albury knows supras/imports btw) or home for me to play around with it. I can only come up with a few possibilities. One being leaking capacitors in the ECU and temperature fluctuations allowing the car to start sometimes? or possibly the fuel pump or AFM but this doesnt explain the intermittent nature of the problem.
Any ideas, please help!
Cheers,
Troy

Common problem.
RA23 - Twincharged

that would be the best thing to start withOriginally Posted by fatboy13
Checking this and the ECU for codes would be a good startOriginally Posted by Kedderz
If it was the neutral start relay it wouldn't crank at all. Check if you have spark, i'd bet money on it being the cam angle sensor wires. I had exactly the same prob.
A few notes / things that I'd start looking at...
>jimmmayyy is 100% right if it is the neutral start switch at the gbox the car won't crank!
>the ecu should throw a code if the starter is cranked for more than 15seconds without starting the engine (Bridge TE->E1 in the engine diag box to check/pull the codes).
>It could be the COR relay not working and the fuel pump not turning on, or the fuel pump resistor, or a number of other things

Very true
Thanks for the replies guys, i called them yesterday to say check the CAS and ignitor connections as its a common prob. The guy said "we'll check fuel first first" I dont wanna sound like im trying to do their job and call them again to say pull the codes, heres how lol.
My bet is that if they find the pump not turning on for whatever reason, they'll try and replace it. Why cant mechanics use the interweb too?
