The MX box is longer, so the tailshaft was shortened, the gearlever is way too far back, so I fitted an RX8 extension housing, brings the lever quite a bit forward, the rear gearbox mount was a bit of work due to the fact that mx5's run a power plant frame and not a rear gearbox cross member as such, The ratios are nicer than an Altezza box(for the track I run at) so that's the reason for running the MX box, it's out of a late NB MX5. As for making the adaptor plate I did it on an NC mill to make sure that the gearbox input shaft and rear of crank centre line is spot on(this must be very accurate or you'll have troubles), I use a Hydraulic thrust bearing so no clutch slave cylinder. I machined out the centre of my Toda flywheel as the spigot bearing is now in the flywheel and not the crankshaft, was it worth it....oh yes, not only do I have a sweet spread of ratios I don't have to ride the crap out of the clutch to get it moving(generally a problem with proper close ratio gearboxs due to very high first gear).
