To all that helped. It WAS a fuel pressure problem. If I had gotten a straight answer about whether the regulator should be flowing fuel I would have known this sooner lol. Was not from you guys but other mechanically minded friends I had asked! It ended up being the hose that joins the walbro pump to the metal line! Someone had obviously tried to save money and gave me a piece of hose that isn't supposed to be submerged in fuel. It had disintegrated and was like tar. Got some proper hose(thanks JP) and it started first go.

Thanks to all those that helped! Much appreciated.

Default 1jz issues- Money or beer for who can fix it!

Hi guys looking for some help with getting my 1jz cressida working properly! Basically what is happening is that I can get it to start but as soon as you touch the throttle it dies until you take the throttle off. It will then go back to a fairly normal idle and seem to run ok until you try to give it some again.... Have checked for codes and it is coming up with error 21 but I didn't think that would make that much difference.

I have tried a different ecu, ignitor, coil packs, map sensor all from a running 1jz that my mate has. Im stumped as to what it is. The weird thing is though it did run properly for a while a couple of months ago, then went back to shit again. Any help would be appreciated!

    Cheers.

Check coilpack wiring, are any of the plugs cracked or otherwise dodgy? I had similar problems when mine started falling apart.

The first cylinder coil pack plug is cracked. Will try replacing that...

Ok I tried the coil pack plugs, new spark plugs and no go. Kinda sick of it now.

managed to get it started again today but it dies as soon as I rev it. Now it is back to not starting at all. Seems to have spark and fuel pump is working(bridged F and B+ pins)

Wondering if anyone would be interested in helping me out. I will give money or beer which ever you want! Please help!

    Where about are you?

Have you checked the caps in the ECU?

No codes, makes me think something fuel related...but could be map sensor or ?

    Windsor Brisbane.

Caps have been replaced but still my ecu is stuffed. I have been using a mates ecu for testing- it is working as it is outta his daily driver.

The only code is chucks up is 21 but I dont think that would stop it from running at all. Have tried my mates map sensor but no go also...

When it won't start, try cranking it for what seems like a silly long time (15+ seconds).

The codes related to not starting take 15sec of cranking to come up...

Do you get spark when trying to crank?

    Cheers

Might be a bit early but once you've gone over everything and feel like you're getting nowhere you have to go over and double check everything again, using only parts you are CERTAIN work e.g. MAP sensor from a running car and so on.

EDIT: should have read in more detail. You got the bits of a running engine...

Sounds like a fuelling issue, having no MAP sensor plugged in gives similar symptoms. I've had an eManage with the injector setting wrong do the same when it wasn't giving enough fuel. Check your injectors thoroughly, fuel pump (examine flow and pressure).

    Are the coil packs cracked?

Perhaps the spark plugs are fuelled up from all this cranking?
    ¿?

take the spark plugs out and check if there is fuel on them..if there is fuel on them...u can sort of guess that means the spark plugs arent firing properly...if there isnt....its a fuel related problem...even though iam sure you have all guessed that by now!
