    Default Different variations in R154?

    Hi all,

I rang up Toyota spares earlier today asking for a quote on an r154 1st gear and the 1st gear clutch hub. He said there were about 3 different versions and could only guarantee getting the correct one if i had the VIN number for the car the gearbox came from... No chance of that unfortunately. Does anyone here know what the differences are and how to identify them? Will the gearbox have a build number on it? The guy at Toyota didn't seem to think so.. other than the markings stating what series it is, ie. W, R, etc..

    Thanks guys, let us know..

Oh and for referance, an r154 1st gear will set you back about $420 and the corresponding
    clutch hub another $220.

I'm not aware of any differences in any R154's, except the shifter housing for the JZX90/JZZ30's. But I've never heard of anyone saying the ratio's are different.

The R151 and R150 have different ratios, but they also have different length input shafts and a transfer case attached to the rear.

And there are no markings on the outside of the box that I am aware of.

Thanks mate, thats the conclusion i came to. I haven't found any information on the internet suggesting different ratios. So other than the different extension housings, i presumed the casing and internals would all be the same.. Thing is I don't really want to "wing it" when it's going to cost me $600 to find out lol..
