    Default Ignition setup on the 1JZ-GTE VVTi

    Hey people whats crackin? Ive been doing some planning on ecu upgrades and ignition upgrades with my car and quite frankly im a little confused. Im planning on going haltech E6X, because its a good price and good from what ive heard. I just have a few questions involving ignition setups on the 1JZ. Whats the ignition setup on earlier model 1jz's? are they direct fire with 1 coil for each cylinder? Can u use a direct fire setup up on the VVTi 1jz's with LS1 coils or some shit? If so will i be able to use the standard ignition modules and run a direct fire setup like this? The later model 1JZ have the 3 coils for all 6 cylinders, is this a wasted spark setup? Im thinking of using the haltech 3 channel ignition module to power up the spark for each coil pack but can anyone tell me if this will be enough for a power output of 350rwkw?? Thanks in advance guys!!

    LS1 coils will do the trick for you, and as a bonus they have the ignitor built in - that's why I like to use them for many different things.

    thanks guys for your help. Whats the work involved with putting LS1 coils on, seeing as though VVTi have only the 3 coil packs?
