How strong is a toothpick ,hehe
20 valves dont have much torque , T series axels will be fine but it really depends on how its driven.

i'm planning to rebuilt my ke70. the future engine is 4a-ge 20v BT with mild tuning. i'm willing to put T-series diff from rt13x corona to my ke70, i think this is identical to T-series diff from ae86 early model. the diff is using lsd 2 way trd for ae86. is the axles will handle the engine power & torque? thanx

people often comment how weak they are.
I flogged the living daylights out of mine and never had a problem tho.
some people dont have any problems with them tho some just explode hehe.
if your gonna belt id put an f or g series in it.
i went from S to T to G when it would have been so much cheaper to put the G in the first place.
i dont have a funny or cool signature.
Since you have to mod the mounts to fit it anyway, probably wise to look to a larger, stronger diff.

I've had a questionable T-series in a RA40. Would be at traffic lights and go to take off but couldn't get the car to move. If I rolled back it would then take off fine. Pulled the centre out and found two or three teeth in the bottom of the housing. This was a stock RA40 driven by 18RC POWER!
My current issue I have with my T-Series diffs is that a couple of years ago I purchased a KAAZ LSD to go into my project RA40 as I was told the diff I had was a little stronger as it was from a MA45 supra. Turns out its stronger because it has the Koukie(spelling?) axels which means my LSD won't fit anyway.
My next thought was not to worry I'll put the LSD into my RA28but I'm soon to be reinstalling the 18RG after a rebuild including capacity increase to 2.2L and compression upgrade to 10.5:1.
Me thinks I'll be looking for an F-series diff or two at some stage.![]()
Sorry wonder OT for a rant.
In regards to fitting one to a car that weighs SFA even with a peppy 20V surely would stand up okay. Lots of revs shouldn't kill it. It's tourquey engines and heavy cars that will do the most damage.

thanx for all reply and answers.
the only problem to me is lsd that i had fit to T series diff. so if i change the diff to F or G series the lsd won't fit and become unuseable. here, in indonesia, lsd is hard to find and expensive too. i'm worry about the axles splines, because i'm going to drive the car daily and little bit drifting practice. is heat treatment will solve the problem? thanx again......
I broke an axle in my celica after about 6 months of driving with a welded diff. This is with a 3/2TG hybrid so a bit torquier than a 20v but similar kinda power. It broke when i was at the drags with some grippy tires to.
So with a 20v, an LSD and average tires i think it will last nicely. But i will be going to an F series when i can afford it.
^^ For that 6 months, what sort of driving were you doing?

i had a highly mod'd 18rg and i would quite often dump the clutch a 6500rpm to rip a decent skid, never broke it but the splines on the right hand axle where a bit suspect
is it T-series from rt 13x corona you're using? because i read it T-series had 2 types axles, 23 splines from corona or ae86 early model and 26 splines from ae86 late model. and this differences bring some strength issue, 26 splines more stronger than 23 splines. so what type of axles you're using? and tell me your engine power and torque! thanx a lotOriginally Posted by SillyCarS
engine power and torque will be a hard one but i will guess around the 85-90rwkw mark with similar mods as to gt1978, it was just the stock ra23 t series whatever that is
My AE86 has had several thrashings at the track on relatively sticky tires(A032R and A048s) with no problems.
It all depends on how you drive it.

i run full slicks with bt in ke70, only ever broken one axle from drag event.
