tarago tps help..2tz..

got a fault code 41..tps
fitted new one and still get the same fault even after reseting the ecu...

keith here I have a tarago 1992 5 speed
was running well then one day started playing up
idling rough and sounds like running on 3 cyls
new plugs leads etc...
any ideas please....

Do a compression test before you go any further.. the error code may have nothing to do with the problems you are experiencing. is the car using coolant?, could there be an air leak into the manifold? could the trunking from the air cleaner to the throttle body be split?.. are the plugs clean? do you run it on that crap E10 fuel?

plugs clean...not using coolant
using E10...I use it on my commodore..is it no good.....????
good compression....
new tps...checked wiring to ecu all fine..good earth and getting power..
did compression test all 4 175...

so code 41 is not tps????

just did a search online...my tarago cant run on E10...great filled up last week...
that's when the problem started....

thanks for the help mate...will flush out tank...and clean injectors and renew fuel filer.....

In my experience, E10 can cause issues in older cars.. promotes rust in fuel tank.. that kind of thing.. E10 may not be your problem either, but if you started using it last week and that's when the problem started... wellll its worth looking at.

checking the injectors seems like a smart move. E10 seems to "stir up" whatever garbage is in your tank..

only two ways I can think of, would be cheap n easy option.. run some wynns or some such injector cleaner and see if it comes good... or remove them from the vehicle and have them cleaned / serviced... a real PITA on TCR10s I'd imagine.. never tried it myself..
