It would still be 3K for the JZA70 manual and all the bits for the A80, i know for $1500 more you could have the real deal .
And buy my full A80 kit off me on SF , hehe

Hi, i thought i would throw this quick couple of questions, i did search but couldnt come up with what im looking for.
firstly i have a '93 jza80 auto TT supra. and i want to do a manual conversion. but i dont think i want to use a V160 getrag because of the price of one...
so i was hoping that it would be viable and more cost effective to use a JZA70 gearbox.
but im not sure what ill need to buy, or if ill need a custom belhousing,
can anyone help me?
cheers gumby

You need to use Soarer gear for a JZA80, as it has the correct bellhousing, shifter position and gearbox crossmember. This makes it a bit more expensive as manual Soarers aren't exactly thick on the ground.
One of the best things about the JZA80 is the 6-speed gearbox, if it was me I'd save my money a bit longer and get one of them. Places like Rampant often have full conversion kits for sale.

Depending on how much of the work you can do yourself, would it be worth it just to trade to a manual Supra to save you the hassle? I know that the floor section of the Supra is different between the auto and manual but im not sure how the R154 would fit in the auto trans tunnel.
Here is a site that has the full process in a lot of detail so decide now before getting to far into it.

Any manual transmission will require tunnel mods, but the extra piece of pressed steel you need is available new from Toyota and is included in the conversions kits I mentioned earlier.Originally Posted by big_zop

I havent seen any conversion kits at Rampant so i didnt know what they included. I actually meant that even though the R154 is a big transmission, it is definitely smaller than the V160/1 as your photos demonstrate and may not be an issue with the auto floor. Only one way to find out really...Originally Posted by Norbie
