Look for a piece of rubber tubing or silicone tubing and slide it in to that pin. Not really a big problem but it keeps the initial timing steady. Try to look for silicone tubing at your local hobby shops. They use this for nitro powered RC.
I have an 18RGEU dizzy lying around that I want to put in the 18RG, but when I had a good look at it, it looks like there is a part missing, a bush or so. The slot in the advance fork thingy is much wider than the diameter of the pin on the disk that it drags along (see in yellow circle). Is there meant to be a sleeve around the pin? It is not wear, the pin is round and the fork looks like new. Also the fork can rotate up and come off the pin. The pics in the 18RGEU pdf that I have look different, but the dizzy clearly sais 18RGEU (19100-88271).
Does anyone know what may be going on?
BTW I will be using a coil/igniter from an RT133 Corona (21RE I think), I assume that is OK.

Yeah dood, looks to be a plastic bush thingee there.
But I'd go with g.c.autosports suggestion of using some small rubber tubing.

i built a few dizzy's & never seen that..![]()
But it look's like a pice of fish tank clear tube will do the job..
it may also pay you to look at to pin on the advance cam plate under that top plat as it has the need for the same 5mm long clear fish tank tube....

What's going on with these stuffed RGEU dizzies?Originally Posted by Omegaman

I had the same problem and wanted to take the shaft out to straighten on a lathe. I could not get the pin out of the gear, so gave up on that idea and ended up taking the upper section of the shaft (with the 4 teeth) off and gently straightening the shaft in a vice while still in the dizzy housing. It appeared to be OK, hopefully tomorrow I will install and check if it goes.

Same here, couldnot get the pin out, they say to grind the the end off. (good luck with that)
I ended up taking the top out of the geu dizzy and replacing them in another 18rg electronic dizzy. The reason i did not just use the other dizzy was it had the wrong weights inside, 8 & 11 weights, as they should be 11 & 13 for geu. I don't think its widely know of the differences between 18rg elec dizzy, but there seems to be.

Also while i'm looking at the pic. There is differences between the lobes on the dizzies.Originally Posted by RA23
My geu has a thicker lobe where the other has a thin lobe. So the little retainer thingy for timing adjustment arethe same, just the lobe change And not from wearing out.
will edit this page with pics soon.

The dizzy saga continues....
Today we pulled the old dizzy out, to replace with the new (rebuilt and straightened one). All went OK, but it appeared that the coil/igniter swap made all the difference. The dizzy swap did not seem to make any difference (we did the swap in two stages and road tested in between).
It turned out that I already had an 18RGEU dizzy in it...
But a different one again to yours... Got no pic, but the vac advance arm does not have the fork block, but the arm is just bent to reach the pin.
BTW, this is how they are shown in the 18RGEU manual as well.
Maybe all our others are rebuilt hybrids??
