    Default 22r- which wrecker carby?

Hi guys, got extractors on my 22r hilux and looking at doing a carby on the cheap, I'll make my own adaptor for it, I was just wondering what factory carbies out there are similiar or equivalent to the common 32/36 weber dgv conversion usually suggested, and what cars I should be looking at for them at wreckers. I here the carby on some XF falcons, but i thought they would be a bit big being 4.1L, thankyou in advance.

You can get a 32/36 from the wreckers, they come on some fiats and other little European cars. I picked one up myself and I've got it in my TA22. It runs but desperately needs to be rejetted, but so will any carby you get from a completely different engine. Its not a DGV though, its a DFV or something, only a few small differences, major one being that the throttle arm(the thing you connect the throttle linkages or cable to) spins the other way. I was able to modify my linkages with a few bends to make it turn the other way and it works fine, but not sure whether your car runs on linkages or cable, but it should be pretty easy to work out.

General consensus is 32/36 DGV (manual choke) or DGAV (wet auto choke) off an Escort or Cortina 2lt works well from 1.3 to 2.2L approx.

Any more than 2.2L (22RE is 2.4L) and you are probably better off with the 34ADM off an XF falcon (electric choke). That's what I would use on a 22R, and they are the cheapest and easiest to find.

The DFV mentioned in the previous post is simply a mirror-image DGV and will work the same. Various Renaults, Fiats, Capris etc had variations which may also be suitable, but can be tricky to get an aftermarket filter for.

Have you considered going EFI with 22RE bits from a later Hilux or RT142 Corona Avante?

    Cheers,

    I have a 34ADM on a 21R (2.0L) and it works well.
Took a while to tune though.

    Yep, for both.

Before you go ahead though, do you know how to tune them?
As i said, its not easy, and can take weeks of trail & error (if you do it yourself) to get the jets sized correctly.

Yes, a 350 Holley would be ovekill.

Jets for an ADM are the same as a DGV. You will need to do quite a lot of changing them to get them right. Unless someone else has use the same carb on the same engine and is willing to share what jetting they used.
