Default engineering??? and registration of engine q's

Hi there guys, not sure if it was the right section to post in, but i thought it was as its about doing a conversion.

would anyone know (down in melb) if im doing a conversion of a 4AGE 20v silver top into a 97 ae101 corolla (7AFE) would i need an engineering certificate for it to be road worthy or registered with vic roads?

    thanks for your help!

I'm assuming any conversion requires an engineer's certificate to pass any inspection?

Edit: Well, I know that's the case here in ACT.

How about you call your relevant transport authority and ask them?

If the engine was OEM fitment in that model you might get away without engineering, but I don't know the rules in Vic (they're different to every other state) so you'd best call the relevant authority and ask.

As everyone has said, call VicRoads. In QLD if the engine was available as an option from the factory then you don't need an engineers certificate.

could be classed as a head swap but probly better off calling vic roads.

worst thing about engineers is there stupidly high consultation fees, try to find one with such things.

if you do need one, i know a good engineer, did my supra....

but seeing as though the fx-gt ae101 had the 4age standard it should be fine!

Edit: just realised you've solved your problems, i suck

any air filter needs to be in an enclosed box. if it's just the pod on the end of the air intake, it'll fail.
