Their timing values are usually altered to take full advantage of their better fuel, which also results in more power. My expereience in JDM verses ADM ST185 GT4 Celica ECU's confirms this, and yes, they do run different part numbers.
Had a quick search but couldn't find anything to comprehensive
Whats the differance?
I think they are tuned for a higher RON fuel, but not sure,
Specifically i'm talking about an AE92 ECU.
Do they look differant? have differant part numbers?
Is there any benifet to fitting a JDM unit to my ADM AE92?
Rep for experianced help

just remember that japanese normal fuel is 95 or 96 octane, and ECU's would be tuned for that, no tthe 100 octane "premium" fuel.... since you can7t sell a car that craps out if used with the lowest fuel..
in oz with shit 91 octane, it will be bad, but if you are using 98 anyway, then Jaydeeem should be fine.. no?

I only run 98 in my car no matter what it is, so no problem there.
Is there any visible differences between them? color of the stickers? color of the writing on them?
As i have herd both of these but not had either confirmed.
Nope, just the part number
Can anyone give me the part numbers of each unit for the 100kw smallport 4AGE?
I think this is an ADM number for the AE92 4age: 89661-12420
Can someone please confirm?
i have 2 x ADM 100kW ECUs : both are 89661-12420
My JDM ecu has part number 89661-12570
Is that a smallport 4age?
jdm for an ae92 is
89661-12570
89661-20890
89661-12690
there maybe more
What would be the difference between the part numbers?![]()
not sure..... thats for manual. didnt look at auto.
12570 superceded to 20890 i think it was.
the other number was seperate.
i dont think there will be much if any performance variation between them.
a part number change can be for many reasons.... maybe one just had an extra hole for a different bracket.... who knows
Toyota do make running changes with the ECUs as they see fit, and it gets a new part number. They are usually to fix drivability issues, and even pinging.
Aus delivered AE92 with smallports are a premium unleaded motor, so I wouldn't imagine there would be much difference in the "tune". Give it a go if you have access to the japanese computer, I'd have a guess and say there's not much in it between the two.
My brother put a smallport into his ae82 after a rod fell out of the original engine, running the bigport electrics it still goes fairly hard. So again I think theres not much in it, not enough to track one down and pay money for.
The spanner in my avatar is actually a 16mm, that's why it's still new
I've been told that the Bigport ECU's run really well on the Smallports, can't explain it though.
