Never heard of it... but if you come up with something, let me know, I would love to turn my stick into a spot-welder
hey guys looks like i might be getting a datto 1200 ute as a drive car but might need some panel repairs wondering if anyone has heard of making a set of spot welding arms to fit on a standard stick welder or even a mig i have both here

was speaking to my father in law last night he is a master welder in Newcastle he has never heard of anything but he seams to think you could make something for a mig but not a stick as the stick welders current drops after initial connection with the body where as a mig dose not and with some research i have found out how to make some arms for it would just be the fun part of connecting them to the mig but he seams to think i would be better just spot welding using the stick welder just one quick spot every few inchesOriginally Posted by o_man_ra23
It does ring a bell for me, I can remember seeing one somewhere, but I have no idea where..
Strange things are afoot at the circle K
spot welders usually have a foot switch so you don't get an arc before you have the two points resting on metal - not easily done with an arc welder.
If you use a contactor, then it could be done

Alternately, if you already have the welders and the skill, use the panel beaters tried and trusted system. Use a spotweld drill bit, (very flat cutting angle) only drill through the top sheet, then mig the 2 pieces together.
cheers Chuck.

as chuck said drilling and migging is easy
and you can buy the drill already at the right angle also you can buy the one for drilling out the spot weld nholes it looks like a mini hole saw
very handy bit of kit
