cranking engine without plugs = bad???

Hi,
If i crank an engine (in this case ford 4.0L) without the plugs in the leads, what is likely to fail first?

Are you talking about turning over the engine without the spark plugs in and the lead just hanging down sparking against the block??

If you dont dis-able the coil, probably that.
As if there is nowhere for the spark to go,
it jumps internally and can stuff the coil.

Yeah. Sparking against block.

I just check spark from coil = NONE
