also, can anyone recomend a place that which rolls guards, and one which dose it well.
hi guys. after putting in my new brakes(1 2 3 4) in the car i ran into some problems(1 2)...
so i need new wheels and i have found a cheap set which should fit, the problem is they are 14x6 offset +12. i have a twinky, and have been told that i have an offset of +30
so will it scrub under normal suspension, and under kings lows(which will go on next month)?
how hard is it to roll guards?is it something i can do myself?
even if a shop dose it will there be damage to the paint?
also is 1mm between the rim and the caliper enough?
thanks in advance guys.

Andy,
I think most people get their guards rolled by a shop rather than doing it themselves. When you roll the guard the paint goes under tension and can crack off the metal. I'm told that heating the guard can soften the paint and make it less likely to crack but on a twinky the paint is probably so old that it may not help. I'd guess that it would be hard to get a shop to guarantee that it would be crack free once they're done but you could ask around. My twinky had rolled guards (I don' t know where they were done sorry) and the paint had cracked on all 4 corners.
I can't give you any advice on whether the new wheel/suspension set-up you're looking at will rub or not. Best to stick to the design offset if you can - its most likely to work out right. Otherwise, try to test the new wheels with the new suspension before you buy them.
Cheers,
Munteruk
when i got mine done on the wrx i was crazy worried about the paint (respray) but they used a hot air gun on the lip and just took there time with it. most good wheel shops can do it.
also if the wheels stick out way to far, you can get the part of the wheels that connects to the hub machined down to a custom offset (to a degree), to bring in the wheel more.
AE86 - coming soon to a quiet mountain pass near you...
WRX - currently epa'd...
