hey all.
just a few quick questions im about confused about at the moment, had a good search (toymods/supra forums/google etc... read this as well http://www.toymods.net/forums/showth...light=2jz+mz10) and there just a few things i hope can be cleared up for me.
im planning either a 1jz gte or 2jzge conversion with manual W5X box into a GZ10 soarer and i was wondering.
1) are 1jzgte, 2jzge and 2jzgte front sumps interchangeable?
2) ive read that the 1jz and 2jz engine mounts are different, is this correct?
3) since im planing to use a W5X box is there any difference between 1jzgte and 2jzge bellhousings?
thats all i can think of for now.
big thanks for anyone that can answer any of thoes questions.
john.

Destroyer of 'Drop Forged' spanners
ahh! big thanks.
its not that i didnt look very hard its just that i got a little confused thats all![]()
a lot of misinformation around too![]()
so i'd be right to use a decent clutch 1jzgte setup in a 2jzge?
yeah there is alot of wrong info out there i guess![]()
with regards to the clutch i'd say yes.

This largely depends on what gearbox you are using!Originally Posted by xcedricx
1jz-gte uses a pull type clutch, if you are using a 2jz-ge with an R154 then yes, the 1jz-gte clutch will be all good! (pull type)
If however you were hoping to use the 1jz-gte clutch (pull type) on the 2jz-ge with a W5x then no, it won't work...! You would need a push -> pull converter, which I don't think I have every seen! (pull -> push converters I have seen)
Also as a note twin plate, and OS Super singles etc for 1jz-gte differ from the above mentioned, as they use pull->push converters...
Soo if it uses a pull->push converter, or is push type already (i.e. 2jz-ge) then it should suit you if you plan to run a w5x gearbox...behind a 1jz or 2jz

so, if i go a 1jzgte/2jzge with W box i should jsut stick to a 2jz push type clutch or a twin plate/ OS super single with pull->push converters
+ rep for both of you
sweet![]()
Depends on how I interpret that...?Originally Posted by xcedricx
If that means, a twin plate / OS super single etc that is push type (i.e. uses a pull->push converter in 1jz-gte with R154), but not using the pull->push converter in the 2jz-ge application...Originally Posted by xcedricx
Then yep, that should be all good!

It should be mentioned that this proposed swap is pretty much the same as a JZA61 swap which has been done a hundred times so you'll find a wealth of info if you go looking. Everything you've asked so far has definitely been covered already.

Engineer mounts for use between the block and existing engine mounts
chose the later option, as a mate had previously completed a 1JZGTE conversion into an MA61 and informed me that the workshop had the engine mounts already on a jig. It was as simple as walk in, put down the cash and come back in a few days time to pick up my mounts. Each mount is slightly different to the other, with each mount designated a specific side. Although these mounts were designed for a 1JZGTE, they bolted straight up to the block, the engine dropped straight onto the existing mounts and there was no clearance issues.![]()
On the engine mount notes I had some made up, so can prbly sell you a set(much cheaper than bonniville)
Cheers
Wilbo
was planning on it... probley get a set if you got them when i come to look at thoes seats![]()
