Default CCG to the Toyota Nationals - Easter 21-24 March 2008

Reminder that the Toyota Nationals are on again at Dubbo at Easter, 21 -24 March 2008! It was a blast last year and 08 will be diferrent without the drags but with a Motorkahna getting sorted, its looking like another good outing.

Accommodation was very tight last year so we need to get as many bookings as we can into the front section of the Matilda to ensure we keep all the CCG together.

Phil and I will be advising arrangements over coming weeks for the CCG cruise and events at the Nats. Just a heads up at this stage for your diaries, More info to follow.....
    Cheers
    Phil & Mitch

Lots of interest with the usual suspects and some new guys hoping to make it as well.

If you wish to stay at Dubbo and enter any of the events, the forms can found at http://www.toyota-nationals.org.au/

Minor change of plans due to the heat. We will be meeting up at 7.30am on Friday 21 March and leaving at 8.00am from the truck stop on the Barton Highway just out of Hall, as per previous years. All Yota fans are welcome to join the cruise as this is not just for CCG members. Accommodation is at the Matilda Motor Inn but rooms are still available for booking from what we hear. If still considering going we suggest you call the Matilda on 02 6882 3944.

Tips for those who have not previously attended are:
    - DEFINITELY bring a CB (Channel 16) as are must for those cruising as we can all keep together and entertain those cruising alone in their ride.
    - BYO grog with you for Friday/Friday night to Dubbo as the bottlos will be closed due to Easter Friday….VERY IMPORTANT!!!
    - Bring hat, sunblock , sunnies , camera etc and even a chair for the lazy events etc.
    Cheers

    I better get a CB.

I have used some nice ones for work before but never bought any.

Where is a good place to grab one from?

Depends what you want to spend. Dick smith/jaycar are both ok, Get a uniden one. A decent one will set you back 60ish to 80ish dollars

Uniden are a reputable brand, however even at 80 bucks I wouldn't be expecting too much out of this price range. Generally a 1 watt CB is about as good as yelling out the window to the car in front ok maybe not quite that bad but they really are only "line of sight" for range.

A "good" CB costs around the 400-500 dollar mark, and transmits at 5 watts.

Mind you, there's not much point having a 5 watt model if everybody else is using 1watt, they'll hear you clear as a bell, but you still will hear "garble garble rrrrrrrrooooooooooar pssssscchhhhhhht mumble mumble", particularly in our not so quiet cars. They would probably suit the Lexus car club though!

I found a set in the kids toy section at BigW, they come in a pack of two and also have a plastic bowie knife, a compass and camaflouge paint - should do the job I reckon.

I used to be the Archbishop of C*nterbury.

Does anyone know a place in Canberra that sell ginger beer flavoured beer by the case. A few breweries make it but it's hard to find.

I wouldn't mind a case to take on the Friday.

    Or tequila.

You mean like the real deal alcoholic ginger beer that some places like APK sell on tap? Seems to only be the forte of micro-breweries lately, so the likelihood of a "by the case" proposition would probably take out their full week's production and send them back to the veggie patch to dig up some more ginger

Saw my mate from Melbourne drinking an odd concoction for shielas who can't handle the taste of beer, called a snakebite or something like that (maybe to make it sound tougher than the softc*ck excuse that it was) it contained half-half cider and beer, with a squirt of blackcurrent juice

    Harden the fark up

    Or tequila.
Last time I saw tequila at a easter event it was being poured into the ear of some poor bugger that was unfortunate enough to have fallen asleep amongst a crew of Toymodders

Sorry but LOL that's like going to an old school pub and asking for a shandy, if the barman doesn't slap you then a patron behind you should clip you over the ear with a pool cue, then kick you while you're on the ground, while calling you a homo........... :-p

If you ever see me ordering a shandy then I expect nothing less than the above..... :-p

Now back OT, will we be meeting at the same spot on the Barton Highway this Friday? Is there a time yet?
