He has to carry around a complete interior and custom speaker box and amp and sub in the boot though Probably has power steering too Maybe air con?

Don't get me wrong, I love your 7MGE and still wish I could've bought it but it's not what I'd called value for money if you look at ponies to pennys. However if you're after a racey, nicely tuned NA engine it's definately a winner

Supramania has a dedicated 7m-ge section. There is a lot of variants there such as stroked 7m to 101mm Individual throttle bodies etc.

I don't know why but the yanks seem to be a bit more into the 7M than the aussies.

The jz series engines are not only more reliable, modern etc but there are heaps more tuners around that are familiar with them.

    JUst another note.

Cams transform the 7m-ge engine into a smooth reving engine.

I think the short duration and early closing of the intake valve really kills the 7M.

How often do you hear stories of people doing compression tests on a 7m and getting 200psi on all 6 cylinders.

That's more reflective of your ability to get it down the strip than any measure of performance.

Cambelt tweaked a 7M out of an MS137. Was totally bizarre - different pistons and ports. Looked the goods. Also had Karmann Vortex AFM.

That said, just buy a 2JZGE. It's a much better platform to start from.

I am going to put mine on a dyno on monday.

So what is a good target? As far as I can see from the dyno thread 7ma61 hit about 116rwkw

I would say anywhere above 120rwkw, but that said, are your cams more top end or midrange?
Look forward to see how it does

    They are more midrange cams.

Also having the histall converter I might lose a little power.

so yeah no high power figures, i would like to see what sort of torque gets pushed from it though

was there any reason to get the higher stall on it?

I got the histall for two reasons.

    1. I find the 7M-GE is a bit of a slouch down low so I wanted a torque converter that would start off a little higher up in the rev range. And this has worked

    2. It has a heavy duty lock up plate that would be able to handle a higher power engine in the future.

To be honest if I had my time over again I would definitely get another stage 1 shift kit but I would skip on the hi stall converter and just a get a stock 2200rpm stall with the heavy duty lock up clutch

At the last dyno day there was a MX83 with a 7M-GE with cams and gears and that's about it, stock management etc that made ~119rwkw.
