    Default twin webbers or turbo

ive got a 92 hilux extra cab with the 22r engine

im thinking of either going with twin 45 webbers exhaust cam etc now or waiting until i get off my ps and go turbo,

i dnt get off my ps until june 09 but i have the money now to get a turbo kit etc or the webbers and everything else

in the long run i plan to do a 1uz conversion but for the moment i want a bit more power

which would be the best option???

IMO, go the turbo... a year and a half is a short time to plan a good conversion in. You will need to sort a turbo, manifold, EFI, aftermarket ECU, Fuel system (high pressure pump, feeder pump etc) and make all of it fit. You will need to build a motor to be able to take the turbo... go overboard on the build and not the turbo, and you will have a lot of fun for a long time.

I would suggest getting a 22RE from a Celica or Corona and start building from there. Plan your day, and talk to an engineer first, so you know what kind of brake upgrades etc you may also need. Then you can pull the car from the road for a short period and install the new motor properly. In that time you can also save for a twin plate clutch to make your driving much easier.

You answered your own question. Do this and save a lot of fucking around. 18 months is nothing and you'll save plenty of cash in the meantime.

Agree. A 22R with Webers or a turbo will be far from impressive unless you throw buckets of cash at it. 1UZ = instant win.

airbag it for now and 1uz it when your off your Ps,

in all seriousness if you are going to put a 1uz in later dont bother with any engine mods at the moment (could do exhaust for now and just run an extra pipe later if you so chose)

18 months is nothing and if you really need to tinker with a see if you can pic up a hilux 1/2 cut and start putting the 1uz in that (may need parental permission if you still live with them)

    cheers
