Since noone has replyed yet, has anybody with alot of experiance ever heard of a wrong fuel filter effecting the engine?
or are they all the same(just diff shapes and sizes)?
i relised that i should probably start with the small things in regard to the problems with my car.
so i want to change the fuel filter, but cannot find a part number. i spent the last 45 min searching toymods and cant find it.
if anyone knows the part number can you please post it up. or can i use a blue top 16v fuel filter with no probs?

Just get a generic EFI filter from Repco. One for a VN Commodore or something should do.
It isnt the fuel filter which you need to worry about, internally they are pretty much all the same, and do the same filtering job. It is more the mounting points. Just get an AE82 one as that will mount to the AE82 mounting points on the car.

ok, if i mount it in the same spot the ae82 one sits no matter which filter it is, it will work properly with the 20v. i presume this is the case for ALL cars.
i had a look at it just to make sure it was in the same spot that it would be in a stock ae82
can anybody confirm for me?
the fuel filter is located on the right hand strut.
1 think i did notice is that the fuel line from the filter to the rail is too long and take abit of a detour to get the to fuel rail, it has alot of slack(it makes a U shape cos it goes down then comes back up)
could this be a problem?
why is fuel filter placment so important?
