So it isn't misfiring when you are at WOT then?
Check the plugs on the injectors as well as the plugs on the coils.

I have had a 1JZ in my GZ20 for about 12 months now. I think my car is cursed![]()
My current problem is either a fuel or ignition problem.
While calmly cruising at say 60kph, it will be misfiring, almost the opposite of surging, like its getting starved of fuel. I sprayed all the connections on the coilpacks and injectors with contact cleaner stuff and examined all the spark plugs, they seem all 'good'. No. 6 plug was a little blacker then the rest. I have a new denso fuel pump and ryco fuel filter.
Also when I calmly accelerate, it will have no power, will reach just over 0.0 bar and thats it. But if i give it a bit more, it will then surge up and run normal (while i give it good acceleration), but then as i slow down to a normal pace, it starts piss-farting around again. It's embarrasing.

On a good note, I ran it at Townsville Dragway and got: 13.7 @ 102mph with wheel spin all of my 60ft(need better tyres)

Anything about about 1/2 - 3/4 throttle is fine. WOT seems to be good too.
I've checked and sprayed all the connections in my coils, and injectors 1,2 & 3. Havnt done 456 yet. my luck is it's no6. Still dont know why. Could they be fouled/dirty injectors?

yeah, I would change the plugs. At that boost level ngk bkr6e or bcpr6e would be a good plug to use.
hey gztwenty did you find out what was causing this? as my car is doing exactly the same thing
tis a 1jz has coilpacks no ignition leads
