    Hi all,

Witchy, can you put some pics up of this. I'll be looking at the same conversion soon too!! Need to see that fuel rail vs housing issue. I've got the plenum and fuel rail w/wiring harness too so hopefully it'll be much the same as what you've done. I'm very new to efi so it could be a bit of fun. I've got a factory exhaust manifold with the sensor in it too (i've actually got two) is this what you used??

    Hey Ben,
I will try and get some pics tonight, I was gonna get some on the weekend but I scratched Anna's car so she wouldn't let me near it!
We are still running the factory carby exhaust manifold, but it doesn't have a spot for an 02 sensor, so just not using one! Its somewhere down the bottom of the list of things to get fitted!
Unless ya wanna part with one of em then it can move right to the top!
    Cheers!

    Hey champ,

I would be interested in doing so, downside (for you) is they are cast iron and friggin heavy so freight is gonna be a killer. Lemme know what you think as i'll only ever need one for the efi!! Would you be interested in maybe swapping?? Take some pics of the exhaust tonight while ur at it.

If anyone else needs one, I too have a cast iron EFI manifold, free plus freight is the price. On another note, Ben, if you are going to do this, you may as well use the much better MegaSquirt system. It will control the system much better than a 22RE ECU and allow you to fine tune it properly. The software etc for it is quite easy to use and the instructions on building and installing it are great.

    Hi Owen,

Sounds interesting, it's a project that isn't going to be done for a while - i'm just starting to hoard parts again. I just bought GA61XX's 22re gear. Might be able to use the plenum as an air box for something else (after modifications or course) Might go a bit nuts with it, just depends on what i can find.

What model megasquirt do you need and how much are they. Are they compatible with a switched supercharger like the 4agze (and maybe 1ggze...) Keeping in mind i've never fiddled with efi is there much work involved???

jump onto www.megasquirt.info and check out the capabilities. You will want the latest version, the MS2 V3.0 if your intending on running forced induction

Hey whitchy, what happened to these pics?? I've got my hilux on the road now (damned oil leaks) and am getting more tempted for the efi to go on!

Keen to see the arrangement all done. Is it all still going ok too>???

Finally got around to taking some pics!

    Here's the complete setup

Where we had to grind the thermo housing and fuel rail

Where the TPS should go but can't due to thermo housing

    Cheers!

Did you use an 18R-C upper thermo housing?? The really tall kind?? You should use a KE30 corolla upper housing, they are a perfect fit, and very low profile.

As far as I know it is just the standard 18RG upper housing? I'm trying to track down an EFI housing, but if I can't find one then I'll have to give the KE30 one a shot! Thanks for that!

    Hi,

that definately looks like an rg top housing. The rc is really tall - about twice the height!!!

gonna check out the ke30 housing too - cheers Owen!

New water outlets (upper housing) are available, I think the 18RGU ones were identical to some of the cressida ones?
I remember someone over here buying on off the shelf and it was the same as the 18RGU one.

The KE30 one was off the shelf from supercrap... I was able to use a standard 18RG lower thermo housing, KE30 upper, I only ground material off the thermo housing, not the fuel rail, and I still kept my TPS. Not sure the difference in height with the KE30 and the 18RG upper housing, as my upper housing was broken when I went looking for a new one...
