From memory you just make sure one set of contacts is closed at idle, and another set of contacts are closed at full throttle. Fairly basic.

This is true, the tps on the 18RGEU are just two switches, one for idle and one for full throttle.

    its actually a 3-position switch.

one for idle, one for just-off-idle, and one for wide open throttle.
Just make sure that the idle switch is connected when throttle closed, and disconnects when throttle is just open.

Thats interesting Mr Witzl, from memory the TPS I have only has three pins, a common and the full throttle and idl pin.

Is there another TPS out there with four pins?

Yes, they are a three pin item.... HOWEVER:

AT IDLE - earth and idle pin connected
AT WOT - earth and wot pin connected
AT JUST-OFF-IDLE - no pins are connected.

You guys didnt think of all the possible combinations did you?

But dood...when no pins are connected..it can by anywhere between just off idle and just off full throttle...

So technically it would be interepreted as between just off idle and just off full throttle (as under these conditions no switches are closed)
