well it all goes bye bye when you add 30 - 35 kg of supercharger doesnt it?if it ever really existed...
i thought he was talking about the "legendary" AE86 perfect balance![]()

ok... ok..... no it ain't feng-shui... and I'm NOT that balanced myself(big guy here - 6', 260#s!)
Legendary..... I'd "argue" that.... not many 20+ year old cars out there that still have factory OEM AND factory racing support. I've owned better handling cars(TVR Vixen S2 for one) but there is something about the AE86 balance that I really enjoy...
I agree the Rotrex is not the answer for low end torque. I also agree that a turbo might be easier to build (NOT sure a turbo is lighter!!!)
The one thing I didn't ad... that is kind of important to me... a s/c is MUCH more environmentally friendly... since engine management can be set precisely since a given rpm usually equals a given boost level. With a turbo boost comes and goes and is not as friendly to the environment...
Information is POWER... learn the facts!!
i reckon a complete turbo setup would come in alot lighter than a supercharger setup if you fmic'ing both.
and im sorry, but when you have the car tuned they use a map sensor that tells it how much boost it is making, and it knows what rpms its doing and it know how much throttle you are using, and it injects the exactly right amount of fuel. whether supercharged or turbod the emissions are going to be the same on a rubbish tune, and on a good tune they should be the same also...

nope, that is crap.Originally Posted by oldeskewltoy
unless you are running with aplha-N tuning?
with either AFM or MAP sensor, the amount of air is detected, combined with temperature measurement, the right fuel can be injected.
for anything under X% throttle, closed loop takes care of that.
if you were really really worried about the environment, you would be running closed loop wideband with an AFR target table.
actually, if you were really worried about environment, you wouldn't be looking for more power from your car
oh, and not to mention the 20-40hp worth fo fuel your SC consumes on boost... and the intake charge that escapes past exhaust valve (not so bad with turbo since it has backpressure)..
for environment, SC is worse than turbo.
only time a turbo is worse, is in the first minute or two of startup, because the thermal mas of the turbo takes time to warm before the catalytic converters are up to temp. an SC will have cats up to temp sooner.
