TVS is effectively twinscrew.. just not as much screw.. and in some ways may be better.
got a price on thos epuppies? $3K? 4K?
As some of you know I've been looking to boost the bottom end SOME My ride is an AE86... I'm utterly paranoid about #$%ing up the balance so I won't consider an SC12... I was giving some serious thought to the Rotrex S/C, it is a centrifugal unit, and although planetary gear driven, it still needs 3k+ rpm to get decent torque #s.
Is the TVS R660 S/C by Eaton a compact enough unit??? Small enough that doing some MINOR mass adjustment - like batt to back and a non US front end will offset the added mass of the S/C?????

eaton tvs is the blower used on the trd aurions, similar size and design as the older 'M' series superchargers, but it runs 4 lobe rotors with a tighter twist than last model.
increased efficiency largely due to the huge outlet port in the base(made possable from the twist), and way lower inlet temps compared to the old girls(pound for pound)
sorry, why not an sc12?

internal compression FTW....
I thought they were still blowers as opposed to compressors?

Seconded Mr Revhead. How will an SC12 screw up your balance?
If it's a weight issue, consider that any twinscrew type supercharger needs a big, fat, super-flat mount to bolt to to ensure the casing doesn't get pulled out of shape. So I feel SC12 + piping and mounts would weight the same as a twinscrew with piping and mounts. Plus the full SC12 setup would cost about 15% of the twinscrew setup.
Twinscrews are great, but I don't think weight is one of their advantages.

I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.
Drift Volvo. Was fun. 2JZ next time.
The TVS is still classed as a positive displacement (roots type) supercharger.
Harrop would probably be able to find you out a price as they are the Australian dealer for Eaton.
The TVS superchargers are smaller in physical size compared to the previous generation Eaton superchargers. The dimensions are on the Eaton website.
The TVS supercharger is VERY impressive! The efficiencies figures are not too far off a Lysholm supercharger.
Not that it is too much help to your situation. If you have the $'s then go buy a TVS or a Lysholm supercharger. They will give better low end performance then a centrifugal type supercharger.
Why not use the SC14 as an upgrade?
SC12 and 14 are limited in boost due to their heat characteristics..
TVS are smaller due to higher rpm capability no?
the TVS doesn7t have internal compression no, but it has the gradual push that the lysholm does, and, in my personal opinion, has a much more favourable design... ie, same shape opposing rotors, same speed opposing rotors, smaller volume per "pocket"..
all they need to do to have internal compression is make the case and rotors longer, and that might happen later if there are no outstanding patents in having "internal compression"
if they had longer rotors and thus internal compression, i think they would be more efficient that the lysholm...

My ideal when it comes to mass is using a small Rotrex. From a mass and fitment POV nothing beats the Rotrex! You can use modified alternator brakets to mount up a Rotrex.
I know the limitations to the SC12 and SC14, the TVS easily would outperform them. I'm hoping to somehow have a small enough unit that the total mass added would be under 30-35 kilos (approx mass of batt and US bumper)

im sorry, but if your not seeing boost til around 3k, why not go turbo? which will be lighter and open to more playing.

ok, i was just thinking that the sc12 is cheap and easy. any other s/c is damn exspensive and seeing as i got the impression that the internals were remaining stock id say the sc12 would do the job just fine.Originally Posted by oldeskewltoy

if you get a rotrex, just to save a bit of weight, then you deserve the shit drivability you will get
if you are that worried abotu the "balance", i wonder if you are changing your own weight etc to fit to the car?
how are you adjusting the balance of the car as fuel gets used? thats a good 40-50kg right there....
