I assume youve cleaned and check the operation of the iscv?
theres also a nut+bolt arrangement on the throttle cable/throttle assembly which you can see if thats moved/shifted and get some adjustment.
My 7m generally idles at around 1100rpm, and it pretty much always has. I figured that this may have been due to a vac leak somewhere, so I checked everything and fixed up a couple of small leaks. This only brought the idle down by about 100rpm or so.
Anyway, what other possible reasons are there for it to idle so high? I have tried adjusting the cam sensor to bring the idle down, but at that stage it's running so retarded that it drives like a slug so i put it back to where it was.
I set the timing when i reassembled the engine and everything was spot on, and having just covered a faultless 1000k's i will be checking it all again this weekend. Though these are highly unlikely, looking at *all* possibilities, slipped belt? cam sensor out a tooth? maybe out 180 degrees? Would any of them cause it to idle that high? Any knowledge or similar experiences would be very helpful.

Check the ISCV is fully clean. Pull it apart and clean it all out. It may have a little bit of crap preventing it from closing fully.

Ditto for the throttle plate, if it's dirty it may not be closing properly. High idle is almost always a result of air entering the plenum when it shouldn't, you just have to figure out where it's getting in.

Yep ISCV is spotless as is the throttle. Thats why it has me so stumped because I've been over the whole thing and theres no more leaks.
Could be the the throttle damper thing sticking.
My bro's 7MGTE has high idle sometimes because the throttle damper doesn't allow the throttle to fully close. Try pushing the throttle fully closed against the stopper in the engine bay to check this.

Bad connection on TPS?
ive had a few things.
from TPS being set incorrectly, to the stopper screw being too far out etc.
Off topic but even with my MOTEC if I unplug the TPS the idle goes up like the factory ECU
ahh yes tps.. thats one thing i didn't check. thanks for the ideas guys.

Another "out there" suggestion is a leaking brake booster. Try blocking off the hose and see if it affects the idle.
