Wouldn't it be a speacialist job to replace the inner seal and bearing?

Has anyone used one of these kits? What is the quality like?

On that manual page linked above Installation of dist section 2a implies there is also the o-ring for the housing, is this the one you mean? doesn't sound too tricky!

toyota also sell the various seals if you need 'em.

I picked up the internal shaft seal from Castle Hill Toyota no worries - but stuffed if I know how to install it.

That diagram doesn't show much - the shaft is actually a bit longer than it would appear.

Since my engine is without intercooler, manifold, turbo, battery, dump pipe, alternator and radiator - getting access to it isn't really much of a problem

Nothing looks tricky in the manual

I'm not sure what other seals need to be replaced, but I think the bearing on the shaft would be rather difficult and any internal seals could be a problem because the dizzy housing is stamped with 'Do not open'!

I have replaced dozens of these internal seals at work. it takes about 1 hr if you have the right gear, and all goes well. you have to take off the drive dog, then press the shaft upwards, dismantling the guts out of the dissy as you go. you have to ignore the warning not to remove the insulation block and be prepared to spend ages realigning both magnetic pick-ups. good luck

My thoughts exactly! Would a mechanic charge much to install the internal seals/bearing etc..?

Let us know how you go - I am still interested in getting someone to do this for me. I have already ordered the seal kit from kbox.

Just to put this one to bed.....

I bought the kit from kbox. It was about $AUD35 delivered within a few days.

My mechanic is rebuilding the dizzy with the new seals etc.. Apparently there is a special tool you require, but your mechanic should be able to do it.

Hopefully I won't have a leak after this
