Default GZ20 Soarer with G245 diff

today went to a half cut shop. there is a GZ20 Soarer halfcut with lot of modification.. big single garrett turbo, manual boost controller, external wastegate and... i notice the name plate about the Tran/Axle = A340E/G245
when i turn the IRS axle, it shows the LSD symptom. ok G series it has 8" ring gear like hilux did, but i am seriously curious about the 245. 24 means it has a ratio of 7.640 and 5 means it is 4 pinions LSD.
now here comes the question, how could it be possible we use a rear end ratio of 7.640? and does 4 pinions LSD means it is Torsen LSD?

Torsen diffs don't have pinions at all. The code for a torsen is 9.

There's no way a passenger car was fitted with a 7.6:1 ratio, you must have read it wrong. For example a G254 would be a 4.55:1 open diff, which sounds about right for a Soarer.

oh G254 may be is the right code.. but i can confirmed that its fitted with LSD as both wheel turns the same way to each other.. the wrecker offer me a good price for the whole IRS assembly.. i'm tempted to buy but its IRS, it will be lots of fabrication works need to be done to make it works on my KE70.

There is a good chance that a car with that amount of modifications will have some sort of aftermarket 2 way or 1.5 way LSD, if the whole rear end is cheap enough then id say go for it becuase you might score a really cheap mechanical diff

i have a solid axle housing for G series diff but i've shorten it too much until its impractical to put it on KE70.. and the ratio is not quite right for a street car (4.875). the GZ20 IRS cost AUS$200 (RM700). can that consider cheap?

AUS$200 includes everything.. it just unbolt the complete rear end off the GZ20.. handbrakes cables, disc brake, sub frame and diff.. everything..

but here comes one thing.. the only usable part within that IRS is only the LSD. the rest may eventually kept in pile together with my other parts..

FYI, i bought my 2nd hand A70 Torsen LSD for $380 and thats even considered cheap.

Most wreckers will ask >$500. Buy it, otherwise give me their number and I will
