easiest way is if it has the original plug leads check the date on them...
Hi GUys,
I am after some help regarding a 20v. I need to buy one, but it has to be made in 1997 or later. I know this will be a black top one, however I am wondering if there is a way to tell what year it was made in.
The reason for the question is I am building a westfield sportscar and to get it licensed it must be that year or later. And if i dont get a half cut, it would be quite difficult to prove what year it was made in.
Cheers

Get your importer to write the year that you require on the receipt
It's been done before, and because it is so hard to determine what year a engine was made, it should pass.
The spanner in my avatar is actually a 16mm, that's why it's still new
thats pretty weird....
as there was no change in them from when they came out in 95....

I thought they stopped making 20v engines in 1992 or 93?
no, they started the silvertop in 91 which had a facelift in 93, they in 95 they changed ot the blacktop which stayed the same unitil 2000
though iv never checked to see if they changed the ecu or not
