Why do you people make all this so complex?
And you can quote Celica XX specs all you like but whatever is quoted by Toyota Australia for the MA61 is what he'll have to abide by.
Of course - why didn't I think of that

    Oh - that's right - I have 5 stud hubs

Right well should everyone be a bloody detective every time someone asks for help? No, would be useful if all the info was there to begin with.

Simple solution would be any readily available 5 stud wheel in a suitable offset which will clear your brakes.
Perhaps something like OEM falcon steels (not sure on offset but I'd be looking at pre AU as they are lower offset).

How about R32 GT-R rims, 16x8" +30, not sure on centrebore though.
Nah scratch that, they'd sit 5mm closer in (if you have room?) but extend 21mm further out, so I would have to guess therefore the centre of the rim would be about 10mm further out...guess that gets you to 1450mm, not quite there though.

Any reason for staying with a 7" rim anyway? Really if you're going up in diameter (from stock), you might as well go up in width.

Perhaps you should have engineered track changes with the brake mods....

While it is all well and good to say this... low offset rims aren't exactly uber common (or hence cheap), custom rims are usually the way to go for low offset (or a fair bit of looking).

On the other hand +35ish rims are much more common!

I suppose if you're just going for looks, thats correct. Sometimes more than looks need to be factored in and if you need a specific fitment its best to just find that outright. Sure saves messing about like this later on.

And that may mean custom (surprisingly not all that pricey via say ROH) or secondhand ex-japan - a bit of messing round with brokers.

I used to have 8"s on it - too much scrubbing and rubbing.

I did engineer it with track changes and brake mods. The problem is that the rego boys don't agree with the engineer - guess who wins when it comes time to register it !

I did lots of ringing around, and pre AU rims don't have a small enough offset to suit.

    You sure?!

I have a book here that says EB had the option of 7" +6 (only 15" tho)

    Or 6.5" +12...

Pre AU is all around that sort of offset...

I was after a specific size tho' - I wanted to use the tyres from my 17x8 rims, so I needed a 17" rim by either 7" or 8".

I also need the 17" to clear the brakes - 16" might do it - but it would be close.

I got the message that it wouldn't be happening after my 4th or 5th phone call to a wheel place.

I have a NSW Department of Motor Transport document that has the two different track sizes for the MA61 - I'll post it up once I get it over the pits and it's been accepted.

    Here's the relevant bit:

    Thanks

Ok, well I give up, yeah the numbers sound fine, but realistically you've got sfa chance of getting low offsets in a 17x7".
If you were running 8s or 8s and 9s you'd have a much bigger aftermarket wheel choice, and I honestly have no idea how you'd have trouble getting them under an MA61 as the guards are massive.. Unless your suspension is really soft, like stock or monroes and king lowered springs or something.

Anyway, far as I can see yes +20 or lower will give the track you need; only variable is of course as the rims get wider they will get closer to the strut unless you continue dropping the offsets. Otomoto are doing Rota Grid in 16x8" +10, Sportmax do 16x8" +15,
otherwise I would suggest you will have to look Japanese (and outside toymods).

As suggested, ROH's 3 piece wheels are relatively affordable.

As far as I can gather you are talking about track as measured from the rim centreline correct?

Oh and what is the tyre width you are hoping to use which was keeping you to 7s or 8s?

For figuring out where different offset combinations will sit on the car (more re clearance to things than track width) try http://marksink.com/tire_wheel_offset/offset.html
