i thought the blacktops had 6 speeds? maybeye just the special ones did.

seeing as how both 20 valves bolt up to a T50 RWD gearbox, i'd say it should work fine.

oh yeah, if you want to sell the quads off your blacktop, PM me

The 6 speed was an option that added a considerable amount to the cost of the car. Once you got the 6 speed an LSD was a further option. Very, very rare.

I can't think of any reason you can't fit the 5 speed to the silver top but the ECU might have an issue or two with it. It depends how much interation there is between the ecu and the gearbox I suppose.

Will the blacktop run it very well with the lower compression? Or will you change to blacktop pistons?
A friend used an auto silvertop converted to manual RWD, auto ECU seemed to leave it down on power. Not sure if it was missing a signal or just runs a different tune but would only run a 14.8sec 1/4 in a stripped out Toyota Starlet.

14.8 aint bad man.. thats as quick than my GZE ae101 Levin. it will run fine apparently. I cant see why it wont.. it just wont rev up as hard or as quickly as the BT did as they have lightened internals... i dont mind the ST bottom end. perhaps i wont snap another rod

Yep 14.8 isn't bad, but when you compare it to the Starlet run a redtop with cams and sidedraughts that ran 14 flat it isn't so good. Basically same car and the silvertop should have had more power. Both cars are RWD remember, so have a good traction and weight advantage over a GZE AE101.
