2nd battery + capacitor as part of the stereo install... i believe it was like a motorcycle battery..
Just wondering what the largest alternator that will fit my AE101 4AGZE Levin is, in output current.
I'm going to be installing a killer audiosystem (active 3 way dynaudio splits, Image dynamics sub, 4 amps etc etc) and want to make sure my electrical system will keep up.
What have people used or reccommend?
Thanks.

Yeah my old car i just ran a double battery sytem with a very good quality battery which worked perfectly never had a problem and that was pumping out 144db without dulling the lights
I'm not keen on capacitors, tried them before and have had better results with upgrading cables.
Dual batteries is an option, but I'm relocating to the boot to allow for a custom airbox, so they will both have to be in the boot. I'll be using an Optima Yellowtop (their highest capacity), but I'll be running about 2000WRMS of amps.
I'm worried that 2 batteries, 4 amps and a subbox for a 12" sub won't leave much room.....
I know you can get aftermarket alternators that pump out like 200+amps, I've seen people talking about them on audio sites like fibreglassforums.com and mp3car.com
cd player $120, pair of 6"s $50, rest on GO![]()
good call lol. but if your wanting to do it the yellow top batteries will power that with no worries what so ever some of the boys up here are running ther wattage with the one battery and they haven't had any problems. But if you are interested in the bigger alternator in the classifieds on this site someone was selling high power alternator 130amp and all you need is your old alternator they just change the internals etc.Originally Posted by IN 05 NT

No worries there....
I'll have a look KARNAGE, sounds interesting.
Anyone know what the stock current output is? I didn't think to check and I'm a 3 hour drive from my car.....
stock is 120 amps, i think that toyota made an alternator for 140amps.... i believe they were in GZE mr2's......

Cool, I'll have a look once I'm back in town.
look to the yooropean cars. i know they have ones around the 200amp mark and more.
they get expensive quickly though
hmm, current mercs seem to have 180 or so..
i vaguely remember seeing 250amp models, but yah.. not cheap.
you can also look at using dual alternators etc.. and configuring a charging system from that.

- Running an SV21 camry altenator on the 4age.
Not sure how many amps it throws out but pretty sure its more than the standard one, works fine from my experience.
Do they fit on to the standard alternator bracket fine?
120amps???? try halving that!Originally Posted by DeftAnesthetik
4a alternators are rated at around 60-70amps same with the camry sv21 alternators... if anything you would be looking into alternators off larger cars with larger motors i.e. v6 camry's falcon's etc.
Im currently chasing a bigger alternator for my gze too as im already drawing 40amps from one of my newly added accesories and im still yet to install the stereo system
KARNAGE Do they fit on to the standard alternator bracket fine?
- that they do, but as said above, probably the same ampage output as the standard 4age.
At the time I just needed a replacement.
