    Default engine conversion wiring

    Hey guys and gals

I've just done all the mechenical side of putting a 4E-FTE in my toyota EP71 starlet. Its got a home made manifold and i am using a TD04 off a wrx, front mount, 4A-GZE injectors and a ACIS inlet manifold and better cams off a 5E-FHE.

So now i've come to the electrical side of the conversion and quite frankly i have no idea. Ive got both the engine and chassis looms from both cars so does anyone know what ones i should use? I was thinking keep the 4E-FTE engine loom and the EP71 chassis loom in the EP71 but there is still a lot of wiring to be done such as engine loom to fuse box and three plugs inside the cabin (guessing ignition ect).

Any auto electricians on here want the job? Or can anyone point me in the direction of a good one?

    Thanks for any help
    Dan

    Hey Kebin.
I'm in Greenbank, south Brisbane. Ha ha yea a long way from sydney

Yea a pretty big job, The current situation is that i have the EP82 engine loom all hooked up to the engine and the original EP71 chassis loom in the car. I went and had a look and its not as bad as i initially thought (though not being electrically minded this means didley squat). Basically there are two plugs from this engine loom that need to be wired into the EP71 fusebox (for power ect). I guess someone who knows there stuff could probably put these wires into the original plugs off the old engine (which i have) to keep it nice and neat. Then there are two from the engine loom and two from the chassis loom that need to be wired into the after market ecu (don't have it yet but thinking adeptronic).

Any advice you could give Kebin, or anyone for that matter would be greatly appreciated. I'm not going to even try do it myself so don't worry but i just want a clearer idea and better understanding of whats involved.

hahaha im flying up to townsville tomorrow morning so still too far

Are you going to run standard ecu to begin with or go straight to aftermarket?
If your running standard setup your going to need the ep82 engine ecu wiring diagram and your going to need the ep71 body loom diagram i.e. ignition switch etc.
its pretty simple its just like a big jigsaw puzzle but instead joining wires up and matching corresponding wire colours and/or figuring out the differences in wire colours for the same circuits in both ep82 and ep71 circuits then joining the two

aftermarket is simpler yet just follow the instructions

as kebin said you'll have to sit down with the body and motor wiring diagrams, and work out and trace all the essential wires. i spent countless nutting out my looms best off spreading it all out over the floor and making large copies of the diagrams to make it easier

I could do it for you but you would need to bring the car to me and I am probably a bit far away(Noosa). It would be fairly straightforward for someone with the relevant skills so nothing to worry about.

Throw it all in the bin bar the accesories and go aftermarket, the easiest of options and not to pricey depending on your wants and needs.

i have a ep71 and the wiring was shit before i got to it.
if you can go after market then go after market.
