I Highly recommended Thundercords/Magnecor too. They are a forum sponsor.

quick injector question. What is the consensus on bigger/better injectors for the 3TGTE?
Approximate price and where to buy from?
I've heard some people talk about RX7 injectors??
Also is it ok to use bigger/better/different injectors whilst using the stock computer?
thanx again![]()

TheToyman has an answer (of sorts) to your question in this post:
http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/sho...&postcount=333
steeko the RX7 injectors are nice and large, but i'm not a fan, they can be horrid to tune at small injector opening times (idle, cruise etc) because the spray pattern on them is about as good as a garden hose on full jet setting....... there must be much better options out there by now (Rod? No doubt you've done the research for yours?)
I guess the question also is how much power do you plan to make?
BTW: The only place to use the factory ECU is on a factory setup, otherwise its more useful as a door-stop or wheel chockIf you want more power and a safe tune, then an ECU should be one of the first things on your list of mods.
Cheers

I have had 550cc injectors on mine and idle was terrible like stated!!! If you use the stock dizzy and run sequential you would be fine. You would need an aftermarket ECU though. Then if you do that you might as well set it up for waste spark. Try to find some 460cc injectors that should be okay with batch fire.

Steeko,
The tune in your factory ECU is matched to the size of your stock injectors. Injectors ANY different in size will result in a change of Air Fuel Ratio (AFR).
If the performance of your engine means you require bigger injections, then you also require a revised state of tune, ie an aftermarket ECU.
RX7 injectors are cheap because they have a spray pattern more like a fire hose than a "spray" as suck they offer poor fuel atomization and in return a less than ideal throttle response, poor idle and just a generally less refined result. Even in rotors they factory added atomization plates for the fuel to be fired through.
A good quality high current injector will give you much better results.
Turbotoy,
The idle control; on a Haltech e6X is limited at best so it will always struggle controlling a large injector at light duty, the slower the injectors opening and closing time, and the poorer its fuel atomization, the worse it will be.. The improved spark helps mask the problem but providing more spark to burn it.

thanks for the info guys.
a bigger turbo turned up, but I didn't wanna put it on just yet as we're also thinking of injectors. I thought the ECU would come into it...
Plans are at the moment to get back to the stock power as close as possible before I upgrade turbo, intercooler, injectors, ECU.

Curious to know what relatively cheap options there are for fuel injectors other than the RX7 injectors. I have RX7 injectors but after reading this am hesitant to use them. Alternatives?
I'll be running an adaptronic E420c. Has anyone ran one of these on a 3TGTE before or could hazard a guess at how it might perform?

TE magna injectors are like 440cc I think... Well some kind of magna have large injectors![]()
Toyota 7MGTE injectors will interchange also, at around 450cc each.
How cheap do you want though? Surely $400-500 is not excessive to pay for a brand new set of modern injectors, and is also good insurance for your motor over old units?

i run 7mgte 440cc inj's in mine with stock ecu. had to cut and swap plugs to suit them. these look to be a twin spray pattern.. which is not ideal as it'll be spraying towards the port walls instead of the valve head.
need to adjust afm to suit the higher flowrate (i tightened afm spring around 10 clicks before it stopped flooding, but thats seat of pants tuning). problem is the afm is adjusted so mutch it falls off the bottom of afm range at idle. the fuel pump switch in the afm (operates circuit open relay) clicks off too and momentarily cuts engine. its kinda random. you can hear the afm flap whacking shut when it surges at idle. sometimes backfires out intake at idle. ive bridged the check plug to keep fuel pump running. but still get funny running just off idle. otherwise it runs fine.
Question is what afm resistance range can the stock ecu read before it runs off the ecu's fuel mapping? is it mapped further than the stock afm resistance range? ...could a resistor be added in series with the afm signal and be used to change the resistance range and therefor allow the afm spring to be loosened giving a useable range of the stock afm instead of it shutting tight at idle? this would require the ecu to have extra mapping above what the afm resistance range gives at full power.
ive run a 5mge afm (larger) with stock 3tgt ecu and inj's before. had to adjust it about 3clicks leaner from memory using narrow band A/F guage for rough comparison to std afm. this would suit a larger turbo and more flow thru the engine so it doesn't run out of afm range at higher power output. never actually compared resistance range of the two afm. might be an idea...
could use an adjustable 1:1 rising rate fuel reg to lower fuel pressure to offset the larger injectors.. but why bother putting bigger inj's in if you do this?
isn't there a rising rate reg available that rises improportionally compared to boost pressure? so less fuel at idle.. more fuel at boost. getting something like this to run nicely with an unprogrammable stock ecu would be a hassle and far from perfect. matti kalahatti's engine was done like this somehow and managed 300hp or something like that from memory.

Off topic sorry, though are all T-series sumps the same volume? The reason I ask is the 3T-GTE I purchased has a hacked sump (as it as going into a Gemini previously) and I wanted to know if I can use a 2T sump?
Cheers guys!
