gasket is definitely the same - why wouldn't you buy a new thermostat?

They're the same, only the temperature at which they open may be different. If you buy aftermarket, you can try different opening temps to help control your coolant temps.

I went the copper + oring method trying to get set up to run E85.
YelloRolla just curious what head bolt torque setting do you use with the Mitsu. studs?
Also what total timing are you using?
Just looking for some comparison feedback.

ARP says 80ft/lbs as long as it is used in conjunction with their moly lubricant. Each stud needs to be torqued down 3 times.
To be perfectly frank, I have not used that stud in one of these engines yet. I have used lots of studs in lots of engines, just not the Mitsu stud in the 3T GTE head (or 2T G for that matter) as I have used my own studs previously.

    I have them set a 70ft/lbs.
What about timing? I have been running 19 btdc with 93 octane. Under boost of coarse

There are too many factors involved to make any statements about ignition timing - exhaust manifold, turbo choice, intake manifold etc can all make a HUGE difference to how the combustion process will behave. One of the factors affecting how much timing an engine needs (that is "needs" rather than what it will "tolerate") is exhaust gas dilution of the intake charge. Small turbine housings and shite exhaust manifold will have an immediate effect, the engine will tolerate more timing due to reduced combustion temps slowing the burn rate.

Yes I realize all that I just wanted a general comparison. I have not been able to talk to someone that has done some of the things I have done with this motor. I have some ideas on what I am going to due after I get this thing going again. I have had some problems in the past with head gaskets and ignorance on my part. (not enough water) That is why I said screw it and did the oring copper head gasket along with lower compression ratio. (went from 8.5:1 to 8.0:1) I know the potential is there in the engine I need to increase my tuning skills. I have read some good articles on reading plugs. I have in the past just relied on a wideband and guessed on the timing based on what I know about other motors. That is how I came up with 19*. I have talked to some of the 3tc guys and they thought that might be to little timing. Anyway I will get this thing on the track and look at the plugs along with wideband results.

I hope that your planning to run 20psi.
hey, are you saying the twin entry housing bolted to a std 3tgte single entry exhaust manif works better than the single entry ct26 housing even though the manifold itself is not a split pulse design??

No, I am not saying that at all - sorry if I've given that impression. I would think that if you used a single entry style manifold that it would make no difference, or may even be worse than a correct manifold/turbine housing design.
The 3T GTE that I drove with a twin entry housing had a custom manifold to suit the twin entry design.
My car had a manifold made to suit when I ran the single entry CT26.
I only ever briefly ran the stock manifold and turbo, later I changed to stock turbo with a new manifold, so my experience with the stock manifold is very limited.
