    Default MS137 to JZ?

What would be the difficulties in this conversion?

I know the simple answer you're going to yell at me is put the V8 in but

    1) I don't want a V8

    2) the fuel economy on the 8 is shit house as compared to the 6.

The main aim of the project would be to return a bit better fuel economy hence the newer engine, and provide a bit more grunt. Having driven a few of these with the 7M they're not the spectacular when it comes to putting your foot down. later model cars came with the JZ cross member so i've been thinking of possibly going with a 2JZ-GE with the idea of possibly running a high comp turbo set up later down the track.

Is there a commonly available mid sump 2J available, from what I can think of, of the top of my head chasers are mid sump so a JZX101 chaser engine would do the trick?

You need a JZS131 or 133 sump. Nothing else will work and they're not exactly common. I'm in the habit of collecting these things and I only have 4.

Keep the 7M - it's an unusual hi comp unit with different head and you'll barely notice the difference from a 2JZGE. From memory there's maybe15-20 hp difference.

    If you really want a 2JZ powered 130 series, get a JZS133.
