What a bastard of a job that is, I just had 3 attempts at mine and failed each time with the two of us. Get a professional mate and also the sealent goes on the rubber before you install.
HI guys, Today I bought a front windscreen rubber and after a few attempts to get the ensemble in the frame I couldn't get the top of the seal close enough in the frame for the rope to actually pull the rubber over the lip![]()

. it seemed to get caught on the clips.
Now what I want to know is, have I been given the wrong type of w/s rubber. Also with the sealant, it goes on after the w/s is installed...

Thank god I 'm not the only one who has been beaten. My Fiancee and I tried in vane and after few attempts and some new black gooey hair gel( I;m sure turps is good for the scap) we, I mean I, retired to the couch to lick my wounds and drown my sorrows in beer to the sound of "I told you so"![]()
Yes I remember that adventure with my red 22.
Luckily a family friend had done a lot of older cars and showed me the tricks, but I remember it still took us a couple of goes to get it right.
It didn't leak afterwards which was a good sign.
The pain has made me rethink removing the rear window for some touch up work, the angle is worse on that so I imagine it will multiply the pain!
