supra stick?
Having a few thoughts about auto boxes and was wondering a few things.
How would i go about running an autobox behind my Current 1JZ setup in my supra.
Could i keep the manual ecu etc and still use an auto in any way?
Im thinkin i might want to try and run a shift kitted auto with hi stall as a drag box to try and pull some decent 1/4 times, however i dont wanna have to start stuffing around putting auto ecu's and wiring in there.
Whats the go with manualising an auto? would this eliminate the need to have the ecu?
I dont care if i have to start in 1, then manually shift through the gears myself, whether it be a manual linkage via a shifter or whether it was electronic via buttons/switches.
Can anyone shed some light on this?? It would be using the a340 JZA70 or JZX90 autobox.
Cheers

Its possible to keep it full auto, but you'll need a black box of tricks as a manual ecu lacks the L1 L2 L3 outputs.
You can do full auto with programmable auto ecu (nfi what they cost)
Or you can do Electronic Manual with say the MV Auto's box.
With no control unit you'll only have 3 gears
L = 1st
2 = Drive
D = OverDrive.
You lose 2nd.
(only 95% sure the above is true about lost 2nd gear)

exactly what you want.
Cheers guys, looks like we have a solution![]()
you might be able to retro fit a auto trans controller from a 6mge/5mge powered car.
my MZ12 had a seperate auto control computer to run the a340e.
same box so i couldnt see why it wouldnt work.
i suspect the 5MGE MX73 will have the same transmission control ecu even though it had the a43de.
it seemed that the electronic control in the a43de was the same as the a340e. 2 shift solenoids, TC lockup etc.
i probably have the pinouts for the ECT ECU somewhere

hello
hmm thats interesting brett however i think for ease of fitment plus the added bonus of being able to adjust the shift points to wherever i want them (as i now have a higher 8k rev limiter) i think this supra stick is going to be the way to go. It looks very user defined, which will come in handy for getting the shift points in the best suited rev range. Also can be used in full auto mode or manual paddle type shift. Probably the best solution for what im chasing.

what will you do with the R154 matty?
JZA70|R / 12.45 @ 111 mph.
i doubt the Wildsupra will stay auto for very long at all.
thought he still had the w58 in the wildsupra :/

who cares what it was when it left the factory haha
could of sworn he told me it had a w58 in it when i bought one of he's cars.?

sorry todd the R154 will be put in the corner of the shed for reinstallation once ive had some dragging fun
Basically i wanna try running quick times in auto form to save damage to my gearbox or any other drivetrain parts, not too mention the fact i dont think i'l ever hook up a decent 60ft time with that bloody twin plate combined with the lag central turbo's.
Jesse, my Wildsupra has always had the R154 in it, well since i did the 1jz swap anyway. My mates supra had the W58 in it, his name is Matty too, maybe thats the confusion, cos im pretty sure i told you that....
Matty
ahhh ok...must of been something like that yer, - looking forward to see what times you can produce - and then to take me for a drive haha
