thanks for all your help guys. I am going to take jzk25's advice and wire it up with the stock stuff first. I have the wiring diagram from a known working 1jz with wolf 3d so it should be ok. Also, got a price on the HKS DLI from greenline $550 delivered and it is only 8 wires 6 to coils and power and ground so easy to wire in after.

thanks again everyone and I hope this thread has helped others as much as it helped me.

Ok so I got this info. from a wolf guy.

Hi Chris you may be out of luck using the stock ignitor. I had a hunt and these need a wire for each plug Plus another lead to fire the spark plus a earth... It looks like the ignitor carries 6 indiviual ignitors in the pack and only the one selected fires when the other lead is pulsed. I need to look a little deeper but the Cam sensor has 3 discs and pickups.
So from what I can tell using the stock igniter in waste spark mode is a no go.

So the way I see it my options are:

    1. get a waste spark igniter and 3 dual outlet coils and mount them somewhere. Need leads as well obviously. Sbyder has this with EMS and hasn't had spark blow out at 20psi on a super t70 (similar size to my turbo) No power figures.

    2. Go for a set of ls1 coils (inbuilt igniters) and leads.

    3. Sell wolf get microtech and use inbuilt igniter and stock coils. (I know this works as 1jz747 has 470rwhp with this exact setup)

And that is it I think.

    Opinions?

    *goes thread grave digging*
Caught up with him on the dyno day on Sat, do you have any more info on his setup? I took a brief video of his engine bay on the day too. He said he picked up a fair bit of power when he put them on vs the stock coilpacks.
Is there any danger of damaging the stock igniter when going to different coils like this? Any pros or cons? Should you really pick up more power? I have around 263rwhp at the moment and am trying to drag more out of the stock turbos (15psi & twin dumps atm).

I realise this a 3 years old and all. But how did you go with this Chris? What setup did you end up with and how did it go?

I am currently at the stage where i have an autronic and CDI and about to wire up my 1jz. Id like to keep the stock coils for simplicity. I just read the whole thread and lots of great info, thanks.

I went with Microtech lt12s, x6 igniter, stock coils sequential, no CDI or anything. Was fine at 20psi with a 50shot at .65mm gap on BCPR7e's.

Other car I had had same coils and plug gaps with autronic with bosch igniter in waste spark and it blew spark out at 16psi.

    Bugger aye.

So is there a solution when using stock coils, CDI, autronic? Or is it a case of "no, get another ecu"? Will the CDI decrease spark blowout?

Sorry, i am very un educated in this area.

autronic with cdi, stock coils in waste spark "should" be ok for some decent boost as the autronic cdi is better than most other igniters e.g. stock, the bosch one I had.

How much boost on what turbo?

    30psi max with 3582R .82 A/R, 6 boost mani.

I just "ended up" with the autronic and CDI so would be nice to use it without spending on something else.
I like the COP settup tho. Dont like ugly coils in engine bay

Thanks for info man, this thread full off it!

Oh btw, is there such thing as transisted and non transisted coils on the 1jz? I rang an autronic reseller today, they were a little unsure but told me that there are two different types of coils that 1jz's came with and the CDI will only work with the tranisted type?

    Does this sounds right?
