if you buy the oil from toyota it come's with a syringe to fill it.
Hey guys
Its near impossible for me to fill up my FWD gze from the yellow filler cap point, So how hell do i do it without pulling out he engine ?
if you buy the oil from toyota it come's with a syringe to fill it.
are there any vsv's or coolant over flow bottle in the way? i'm not familar with the fwd gze eng bay, but on the aw11 i just pull the over flow bottle out and can get my hand in behind to get the dipstick out. we also have the brown fuel reg vsv thats only held to the firewall with one bolt (10mm head) undoing that and moving it aside can make it easier to get the dipstick as well. also that silly ABV when removed (and it's blue vsv) make it even easier to get to the dipstick. there's always something easy to move that will make it easier.
i use one of them little 50mm flashlube bottle's to top up/fill my s/c oil.
in my ae82 i used gm roots supercharger oil and that has a little nozle, i used to open it up and put my finger over the hole slide my hand down to the fillup point place the nozzle in the hole and squirt (add porno music if you feel its required)
i dont have a funny or cool signature.
i used a syringe, works perfect.
a syringe with a short length of vac hose works best in my experience
yep, forgot to mention i had a length of vacuum hose on mine, with the end that goes into the sc tappered off a bit with a razor.
yea, basicaly the same as what the flashlube 50ml bottle is.Originally Posted by fixeruperer

oh and if you use the vac hose and a syringe method. i find it makes less of a mess if you squirt the oil in then draw back on the syringe to remove excess air from the casing. if you put the hose in the filler snout it seals well enough that putting the oil in forces some pressure on the air in the case and when you pull the hose out it tends to spit out some oil mkaing a mess. if you draw the syringe back it takes this air out of the case removing the pressure build up so when you remove the hose no mess.
IIRC we drained my S/C out by using a syringe... just chucked it in there and sucked up 125mls of the gunk... then put it back in using another clean syringe and new oil, as mentioned by TooF

why suck it out when there is a drain plug on the bottom of the s/c?
toof, have a go with a flashlube bottle next time you need to do it. you'ld be surprised how easy and non messy (yes you can squirt oil in suck air out too).well if you want too, i know some are stuck in their ways.

Fair enough, at the time it was dark, the engine bay seemed overstuffed etc.
So we just sucked it out (seemed easier than fumbling underneath for the drain plug.
Is the drain plug easily accessible without being a contortionist?
I spose it must be as yours is in an AW11![]()

sorry i dont mean remove the oil with the syringe use the drain plus certainly.
only draw back on the syringe to remove the excess air pressure inthe case after you have put oil in before removing the hose this helps prevent as much mess. yes if you used a flashlube bottle it would be cleaner becasue the tip of the bottle wouldnt create an air tight seal like the hose does so you wouldnt run into the pressure problem.
