Default Wakefield Track Day - 29 November 2007

Just thought I'd put it out there if anyone is keen.

I've made a late decision to head up to the track at Wakefield this Thursday (29th) for a 'Speed off the Street - Cars only' track day i.e. just a general open track day.

All the info you need can be found here if you haven't been before:

    http://www.wakefieldpark.com.au

May or may not see some other Toymodders there?

    Cheers,

    Shane.

A brief run down of the track day:

Weather was awesome and for a change it wasn't even windy!

About 30 street cars turned up, plus a few open wheelers.

Rick Bates and some bloke from some TV show were there filming the new TRD Aurion. The TV preseneter bloke seemed to be exmept from the general track rules that applied to everyone else The Aurion seemed to get around the track fairly swiftly for a stocker, around the 1:15 mark with Rick behind the wheel.

Some blokes '07 FPV V8 falcon gave up the ghost and seized the engine in the second session. That was the only casualty for the day.

The Toyotas in attendance were, my KE25, a 4AGZE AE92, a 4AGZE AE9x seca, and a ZZ30 MR2 (if that model number is correct for the late model MR-S??). Plenty of Honda s2000s, WRX's, Skylines, 200sx's and EVO's to make up most of the other numbers.

    Was a good day out

EDIT: Oh, and I saved a long neck turtle from be squashed on the road on the way home near Goulburn. I hate seeing squashed turtles.

I think the equally critical bit was that Rick was behind the wheel. Once i get the GT8 sorted i'll do my best time and then give the keys to Neal to knock a few more secs off

Yeah there were 3 blokes driving the Aurion, the TV presenter who went alright, the guy who I presume was the owner who was pretty sedate, and Rick who was much quicker and smoother than the other two.

I was also impressed that my mate on his second time on a track cracked into the 1:11's in his relatively stock 00 STi. ECU, sway bars, zorst and front pads and it went damn well.

WP seems to really suit the WRXs for some reason.

A mate just used to dawdle around in 3rd pretty much the whole way round (00 non Sti, stocker) and still do easy 1:15s

I wish it suited the KE25 to the tune of a 1:11 or even a 1:12...............one day.........one day.

it's a relatively tight track... awd has a pretty good advantage out of most of the corners. bargearses like my JZA80 prefer something with faster corners, where traction issues aren't as prevalent

Justin, 1:09 is pretty respectible tho! I wish to hit the 1:11's in the SW20 on semis. It will be a challeneg with no ABS and a big turbo...trying to keep it in boost.

Yeah i was stoked with 1:09, being the 1st time on slicks and no idea how to set them up....still had stock brake pads in too so another sec or two there with the new brakes at least. I reckon i can get it down to a 1:06 with enough track time....just need to get out there
