just out of interest were your struts the ones used in the coilover article in zoom done by matty (magic) a while ago? if so are they the rx7 claiper brackets?

i am about to do the same setup using RX7 FC calipers and the Brackets from Japan in which i have, but arn't sure of exactly what part no rotor to use and wether it fits over the hub after maching the outer dia or in the normal fitting arrangement.
If some body can load the pics of the brackets up ican send them to them just PM me your email address

    Cheers

If you are going to use RA6x, MA61, MX73 struts, then Skyline/300ZX brakes bolt up with
http://toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t=724 (I'm not sure if any of the RT14x or RT13x struts are the same?)

I am currently working on adapting the Z32 caliper/disc to the stock AE86 strut/hub, hopefully in both a rear mount and a floating disc setup (so y'all can dished rims) but I'm waiting on getting my discs back from being redrilled to 4 stud before I can mock it all up.

Also with the above adaptors on the MA61/RA6x struts you *should* be able to use CA18DET S13 250x18 or the SR20DET S13 280x22 discs. Both have single pot calipers allowing for uber diiiiiiish.

Will start a new thread once I have it all mocked up and working.

BlueAE86 - I doubt anyone will know exactly which disc you need for the exact adaptors you've bought. Try getting in touch with the guys you bought them off. Or just mount it all up and then measure the diameter and hat height you need. Then scour the DBA catalogue (download it from their website) and find a disc that matches.

Cruzida: what size disc were you thinking of using for that setup. Im about to start working on a Z32 setup for either the AE86 or Corona struts, looking more at the Corona struts for the size of the bearings.

Needs to be about 266mm max dia disc to fit under 14" rims as well.

The idea of it is pretty much to convert to Nissan brake setup.
So you have the choice from 250x18mm CA18DET stuff, all the way up to 324x30mm GTR stuff, even the aftermarket stuff beyond that, as well as everything in between.

The 280x30mm Z32 will be the main one.

Can't comment on the 266mm disc though sorry.
But don't the 280x22mm S13 stuff have 14" rims stock?

GT states he's fit 291mm rotors under 14" rims. Its all in the calipers, you need to find a thin caliper.

Yeah, sadly all the 4spots are fat hefty calipers. The thin backed calipers tend to be single spots.
However, i think the Z32 setup will be thin enough to fit nicely, the only issue might be the leading face.

Yes, they are fat hefty calipers, but they stop really well and I'd say they have awesome heat dissipation qualities.

However, I doubt they are any heavier than the stocko's.

Oh, but the Hilux calipers certainly are. The Z32s will be a good replacement for the Hilux calipers.

i'll ask around for ball park machining prices, but to be honest i've been following crUZida's skyline brake upgrade. i like this idea much better, bigger, more common and about the same price.
personally i would want to retain my stock struts

Im currently doing the rx7 brake conversion on my sprinter. Im using 2001 supercharged mini rotors (dba542), 276mm, 22mm thick, 44m height, 64mm centre hole.

So far I have fitted the rotors to the sprinter hub. This was almost a direct fit. However because the mini is front wheel drive (disk over hub) the chamfer on the centre hole is on the wrong side. This causes the sprinter hub to sit back about 2mm. I got around this by taking the hub to my mates workshop and put it on a brake lathe and ran it right into the corner of the hub, so no chamfer is needed on the disk centre hole. Relatively easy. Also the holes need to be redrilled, easy, i did it on a drill press and was spot on!!!

Clearance between the disk and control arm is about 7mm which is heaps.

I have redrawn "HENS" caliper on AutoCad and will either be making it in two parts (laser cut) and welding them together (allot cheaper) or getting it machined cnc out of one block. Im pretty sure the only difference between mine and hens bracket will be the thickness of the plate which the caliper bolts to (this determines the offset of the caliper). I think it will be 5mm thinner then Hens as his rotor height is 49mm and mine is 44.

HEN any Idea how thick, the caliper side, of you bracket is?

Can you keep us posted on the development of implimenting the disc and calipers to the standard strut it would be highly appreciated!

    thanks!
