What type of clutch to buy??

Hey guys

Due to the recent failure of my ORC twin plate in my JZX81 1JZ R154 (i was only making 220rwkw) which was very frustrating

but ah well I was wondering if anyone could tell me of any local replacements available and any japanese clutches theyve experienced and anyones personal favorites would be cool I tried searching the forums but didnt come up with much

what failed in the ORC? they are normaly pretty good unless they have been abused (by abuse im talking about being riden or holding your foot on the clutch for long periods of time)

OS Giken, tilton, exedy (not Xtreme) and direct clutch are all good brands provided they are used the way they were designed/built to be.

My AE101 4AGZE Levin will be getting a standard Exedy with the pressure plate upgraded to 2200 pounds. Ends up with more clamping force than the heavy duty for a comparable price.
The clutch compound between the standard and HD models is exactly the same, the only difference is the clamping force.

An upgraded stocker (with a bit of extra clamp) would be the go for that power level. A multiplate clutch is unnecessary expense.

on that note.. any recommendations for brands for organic twinplates? can they be made to fit standard sized (but alloy) flywheels? or need dedicated wheel?

It was the weirdest failure ever i was muckin about I'd stopped somewhere put it in third and dropped it just to do a stand still

it seemed like it was spinning for a sec then that was it there was nothing the car wouldnt move period just slippage

I could hear the plates spinning when id take my foot right off the clutch in first so weird because all night it hadnt skipped a beat just when i did that so I figured its replacement time, I chose to go twin plate cause ultimately my goal is medium single with around 320-350rwkw

so yeah I was wondering what everyone else runs in the way of clutches and what they recommended

I'd take it out and inspect it. To determine what failed. From the sound of it, it could even be a gearbox failure?

Re doing the twin plate would be the route that I'd look at first...esp if you want the power level that you have suggested.
