Default 1JZGTE With Microtech LTX-12...what air temp sensor?

Well after getting my soarer finally running and running not too bad either with the new microleb, its off to the tuners on saturday morning to up the boost and get a decent tune, I really wanna have all the sensors working well and I have except for the Air Temp Sensor, the stock 1JZ item doesnt seem to give a reading and my mate who helped me install the microtech seems to think it isnt the correct impedance...

im running a VN commodore coolant temp sensor and that seems to be working fine, but unfortunately the VN air temp sensor doesnt fit in place of the stock 1J item...

I was going to go to enzed this arvo and get an adaptor unless someone can suggest an off the shelf item that will go right in and work with the microtech?

    Cheers

Ask the dudes who originally had the Microtech on a 1JZ, unless of course they werent They probably specified a particular one when ordering the 1JZ.

Did the 1JZ run a cold start injector? I'm planning to run mine there. The Commode stuff should fit in there.

Do you get a number for air temp on the hand controller or an error for air temp?

If its an error the sensor is wired wrong.

If its a number and it seems to be accurate to within about 30 degrees then don't worry about it the tuner will just move the maps along a bit to suit.

the maps for air temp don't make huge corrections anyway only pull a little timing if its hot and add a little fuel if its cold and your tuner won't be able to simulate most of these anyway so it will basically be a guess, as long as the sensor gives some reading

the specs from the page in the microtech manual are -20degrees c 14 to 17K ohms, 20degrees c 2.2 to 2.7k ohms and 80degrees c 0.29 to 0.35k ohms if you have a multimeter handy

no reading...reads zero...but no error, so its wired correctly just not giving a signal...

On my 4AG20V with a microtech LT10s, I just used one from a 16V 4AGE. It seems to read correctly. I dare say that all toyota(denso) sensors would be similar calibration thermistors anyway. I'd just go and grab one off a camry or a corolla from a wreckers and give it a go.

grab a multimeter and put it between the air temp wire at the microtech (think its black) and ground (brown) if the cars been sitting overnight it should be around 2 K give or take. Then do the same at the 2 wires on the sensor, see if the 2 readings are the same.

    (do it with engine off)

slightly off topic: do many people use the air temp compensation in their ecu's? I have mine off at the moment but use water temp compensation for start up.

As was said, I think it is a bit of a guessing game as you can only tune for what the weather conditions are and if you were to attempt to say tune for colder weather then you really couldn't until the time that it is cold.

Im guessing I unplug the sensor before I take the reading from that?
