how much room do you have to play with? I used a VN-VS commodore airbox in my corona which has a very similar sized engine bay to a celica with little modification. Its smallish, fairly universal, easy to get and cheap
Hi all,
Nearly got the 1ggte ra28 conversion to an engineering point but just a few little niggling things to finish off including the damn airbox. I was confident at first that I'd be able to jam the stock sucker in the bay. The intercooler piping however has different ideas :S.
Now I'm looking for some kind of stock airbox that screws to my afm and is a tad smaller than the stock ga70 one. I noticed Rod used a cresida box but last time I was out at pickies they had all been pilfered. So before I head out on Sunday in a futile search does anyone have any quick wins?

SOLD : 1GGTE Rt142 Corona - Twin TD04-9b turbos - 180rwkw = 13.1 @105mph
ah thats the kind of thing I'm after. +rep. Anyone else with suggestions?
charade airbox
got one that you could borrow to get it thru also
or get a couple of thin sheets of alloy and make a box, would only take 30mins.
Why do you want a stocko box?
There are BMC cold air induction kits fully enclosed for f**k all, and surely you would feel the benefits of them compared to a stocko commo box

'86 RT142's air box fit's nicely on right hand side of engine bay in celica's...
i got one if needed.. or need pic's...
I've used them on, TA22 with 3T-GTE, & RA28 with 18R-GE, also looked at it for a RA40 with 22R-E...![]()
it's a very nice fit...![]()

well I went scounging at the wreckers on Sunday and looked at all my options. After pulling a lot of airboxes out of cars and chucking them around I finally settled on a st162 airbox. The AFM bolts straight to it at the right kind of angle. My intercooler piping is a little obstructive so it doesn't fit perfectly but that sucker is jammed well enough in there not to go anywhere and the strut brace now fits on.
i'd be interested in some pics of that! and how the box mounts to the car.
