    Default Electrical problem...AW11

    What have I blown up!!!!

I have installed an aftermarket tacho in my car and now the car doesnt work!

    The full story:

My car has the coil pack from a Mitsubishi Evo and and EMS ECU running it. The standard tacho does not talk to said ECU or coil pack. The coil pack was missing the tacho adaptor until yesterday....it literally just plugs in to the coil pack and needs an earth.

I went and purchased an aftermarket tacho and got it half way wired in....12v feed taken from the 'ACC' position on the ignition. Back light taken from the ciggy lighter lamp and its also been given a good earth.
When I had got all that stuff wired in I made sure everything still worked...all the electrics worked and the engine started fine.

Jump forward 2 days to last night and I plug in the tacho adapter and run a test lead from it to the tacho to make sure everything works before I hard wire it all in.
Switch the ignition on to the 'ON' position and notice that the radiator fans and electric water pump dont kick on (they are hard wired in)....turn the key to the 'START' position and nothing happens at all....The starter solenoid doesnt even click.
Other than the fans, pump and the start up everything else works fine.

    So WTF happened?

The only thing I can think is I have exploded a fuse or fuses somewhere?

you will have either shorted something out and cooked a fuse (easy to check for) get out your test light and start checking fuses.

or you will have knocked something out when you have been tinkering. given your fans and pumps will probaly be triggered from the acc or ON power then your tinkering in that area has probaly knocked something out.

I'm 99% sure I havent yanked on any plugs or the like....there isnt really enough give in the wiring loom to do that.

Where are all the fuse boxes? So far I have found 1 in the frunk, 1 in the drivers footwell and 1 on the left of the engine room. As far as I have found there are no blown fuses but I will double check tonight.

    Found the problem.

There was a blown fuse in the engine bay.

I checked them once and couldnt find a blown one.
For my own sanity I checked again and found one of them was blown but only had the tiniest of gaps and no scorching on the plastic.
I had to hold it in the right light and stand on my head to see it!!
