You can put a 4wd centre with lsd or locker into the 2wd housing and can also purchase new crown wheel and pinion sets in lower ratios

They must be able to handle a bit of power because the rotary guys put big power through them

In a hilux with a decent motor you will loose traction before you do any harm to the diff.

Also search for g series diff and you will get quite a bit of info regarding different housings and spacers and different bearings needed

When you say centre do you mean the whole carrier or just the or just change the crown wheel, pinnion and hat.
What about the axels arn`t the LSD ones shorter.
As far as traction goes I am aiming for more hense a stronger combo.
I want to run the 1/4. Hoping to run low 12.s. Once sorted.

Yeah the whole carrier with crown wheel and pinion will bolt in .
Just be aware if you get a centre from a diff with a high ratio (4.8) and want to fit lower gears (3.9 3.7 3.5)
the pinion will be offset and you may need a different housing to get the correct tooth contact and side bearing preload.

Im not sure about the axle issues but i have my diff in and have no problems with a 3.9 lsd and non lsd axles.

Do you have many problems with diff bounce on acceleration?

Hi. No problem with axel tramp even with 3" lowering blocks.

I just have the issue of breaking traction below 60kmh in any gear.
As it ussually just spins the one wheel....

I put it down to the springs as the second one in the pack comes up to the eye shackel. That gap between the two leaves is where it twists and causes the axel to bounce. Hence the invent of the CalTrac bars.

Yeh. I want to change to LSD. How long will it take 600Hp for.

Will they stand a hard launch. Is int it more about torque than Hp.

My combo is. 289 Windsor.with all the fruit & C4 with shift kit and 2500 stall.

a simple search will reveal all. They have very thick 30 spline axles, heaps of different ratios and many different types of lsd's and lockers available. Im yet to hear of anyone having any issues with them. Again, search.

LSD=easy to get or go lockrite/truetrac or similar.

your combo will have a hard time breaking 1 unless you throw 4x 100hp shots of NOS at it also and then back it up with a transbrake.

    9sec 1/4s are easily done with a G series so i doubt you'll have a prob.

low oil will kill them but not much else.

    cheers

If you're happy with the current ratio you don't need to change anything except the diff centre, ie leave the C&P alone.

There are several clutch-type LSD's available for the G-series; look for upgrade options for the MA70 Supra as they have a G series as well. The TrueTrac is a torsen-type LSD and is the most street-friendly type of LSD you can get, although if hard launches are your thing you'd be better off with a clutch type.

You should stick with a standard and do what the rotary guys do.
The Crown and pinion gears are interchangeable between 4x4 and 2x4. The axles are either the same or the 2x4 axles will still fit a 4x4 center as I have a 4x4 center with 2x4 axles.
So if you want to keep the same ratios and can't find a 4x4 center with the same ratios you can get them swapped over. This was done with my current center.
You'll probably find, as I did, that the LSD is still a bit loose. The rotary guys and cheap ass 4WDers get the extra shims added to tighten them up. I was quoted by Mobby Diff $150 to tighten a center if I take him just the center. I'm yet to get mine tightened as I've had more important things to take care of.
With the traction issues, look up Lance's Project Bugger. He did a lot of research into traction in Hiluxs while he owned one.

I guess any thing would be better than an open diff. See I run a strong V8 with a shift kited C4. So its more the torque that is a issue. I would just like to leave the line a tad better. If I stick enough into it it will light up both wheels. Its just when I give some 1/2 throtle it will spin one wheel and loose traction unless I back off.

I am runing a 4.10 diff but would like to go to 3.7 or3.5 ish.
I belive the late model V6 runs a 3.7 and will fit. Any thoughts.
I have heard that the Hilux SLD have poor clutch set up...
Do you know any one who has brocken a G code diff?
