    Default Intercooler advice - 7mgte

Ive purchased a high flow turbo for my 7mgte which has the following supporting mods
    - 3inch dump, 3inch cat 2 1/2 inch cat back
    - 2 1/2 inch intercooler pipes with ma70 inter cooler
    - EBC set to 10psi
    - SAFC

Now I plan to run 14/15 psi with a 1uz afm (stock injectors) added and then retuned on the dyno with the SAFC. I hope to run as close to fuel cut as possible, yes i know any more boost and i need to start thinking after market due to ignition.

Question is does the stock ma70 inter cooler need to be upgraded at this stage? I like the stealth of the stock unit but is it beyond its efficiency range?

I wouldnt run the Lex AFM without using 550cc injectors as a combination in which when combined will raise fuel cut

The stock injectors with a properly tuned SAFC and a stock AFM will still raise the boost cut, just not by as much.

Mind you a friend of mine runs a 1UZ afm without an SAFC and with stock injectors and boost cut is around 15psi. The thing still runs pig rich mixtures too

im hoping for 14 psi as i stated. Ive researched the 1uz/stock afm and it appears that 14-15psi is standard raised boost cut.

A big FMIC should be one of the first mods you do. You can get decent ones for $200 now so why wouldn't you?

Same side inlet/outlet causes headaches/expense with pipework (not that it isnt worth it but would be much more than $200)

Although if you can find one of the ARC bolt-in jobbies (as I did for the MZ20 I had) it's much more palatable

norbie, having very little knowledge about IC's I thought it best to ask first.

As I have custom piping already its not really a problem to upgrade to a bigger IC, justjap have the bar and plate type same side inlet/outlet style ones for $249 which seems ok.

Definitely worth doing then if piping/cost isnt an issue. I'm sure that the stock item wouldnt be doing a lot of cooling at 15psi

Next question, would painting the IC black decrease its effiecency?

JustJap have been 'out of stock' of that item for about 4 months.
I know coz I'm still waiting for one.

It will be quite a while before they get them in again IMO.

Shouldnt, provided you dont coat the paint on too thick. The IC in my IS200 has been painted and it seems to work pretty well

Justjap are to have stock of these "next week" according to who ever responded to my email, so we'll see if they are correct sometime in the next month.

also are these injectors suitable/drop in replacement for the 7m?
